    Post your last tire/wheel purchase

Just replaced original equipment Firestone AT20 on a 2012 Tacoma access cab 2wd with 21K original miles with severe dry rot and cracking with Cooper Endeavor 215/70/R15 purchased from Tire Rack last month. They had $80 instant rebate vs. $50 submission rebate now so was more than happy with...

    Compressor doesn’t work

Are you ok at diagnosing electrical components? Does the on/off switch have an illuminated light to verify power input? Do you know how to check capacitors which kick starts the motor? Start easy stuff first.

Brake Lube for Sliding Pins and Caliper

100% true in my application. Used sil-glyde after meticulously cleaned old grease out of the caliper bore, boot, and slide pin and after 3+ years, the pin was frozen inside. After 2 hours of soaking, heating, and rattling the destroyed pin was finally extracted and it was the solid pin and not...

Official Toyota parts 25% off deal 20-27 nov

25% of course would have been nice but 20% is ok for only a $141 part. Purchased online from a participating NJ Toyota dealer to ship to NY for $82 total including shipping, all discounts, and no sales tax. I’m happy. Thx.

Anyone use Rim clamp adapters on a tire machine?

I have the OE equivalent adapter for Coats machine. Mine is spring loaded to secure adapter over jaw. Not sure if that’s what the knobs are for with these aftermarket. The rubber scratch preventer are useful and did a ton of ATV and motorcycle wheels and adapters work as they should. I would...

    We Bought a 2024 Odyssey

Nice vehicle for a style whose market share that’s been slowly dying away. However, I still very much enjoy my minivan today as a secondary vehicle. I would agree that with Sienna incorporating airbags into the 2nd row seats, they focused on purpose non-removable design unless with tools and...

Dealer forgot to put air filter back, clips on box caused mystery vibration

I know it’s money out of your pocket but would it be worth while to buy a reasonably priced borescope and take a look inside cylinder walls the next time you do plugs and maybe give you further piece of mind? I realize you may have to turn the crank by hand to get the pistons to BDC to better...

How old is too old for tires?

In Discount Tire’s website, they state that any tire older than 10 years old (DOT code on sidewall?) will not be serviceable or repaired by them if you have a flat with a nail or something. I am currently about to junk a car I’m still commuting with today that has older tires but would not...

    Toyota "FREE" oil changes

My ‘15 Sienna had the same 2yr maintenance plan included and I elected not to use it even though you are technically paid for it with a new car purchase. I gently broke in the vehicle to 1K and then drove another 2K towing 3000lbs from MA to TX during July so changed oil myself at the 3K...

Toyota Corolla Determining Proper Transmission Fluid Level

I wouldn’t be surprised what you measured because imho, idling doesn’t really replicate the heat getting into the transmission without shifting through the city, fluid pumping through the atf cooler, etc so go for a really good spin and measure again. At least it isn’t low like my mistake where...

Toyota Corolla Determining Proper Transmission Fluid Level

My biggest mistake with my ‘03 Corolla is I measured the transmission fluid level with the engine off. So ultimately this gave me an under fill even though the level showed correct whether it was cold or fully warmed up. I screwed up. I also see no reference in my owners manual on how to...

Official Toyota parts 25% off deal 20-27 nov

Agreed, as NJ and AZ don’t collect state sales tax on the online checkout page and Prestige is one state over so 2 day std delivery is always nice. So triple dipping may encourage me to stock up some OE spark plugs, engine and cabin filters, etc right now. Thx, again.

Official Toyota parts 25% off deal 20-27 nov

Thanks, P for alerting members. Went to parts.lexus.com to get an estimate for three OE oil filters that have identical P/Ns shared with ‘15 Toyota Sienna 3.5 engine used in the respective RX models. Website defaulted to multiple selectable dealers closest to my zip code to “Shop Now” and...

Anthony 'The Go Show' Gobert in Palliative Care

Such great natural talent and like many professions, sports figures, actors, singers…you always read about their unfortunate dependence on drugs and alcohol and fall from the spot light. Recalled when he showed up for the AMA nationals in Loudon, NH and ran some practice laps with the V&H...

Mahle oil filter for BMW - $5.79

That’s a steal. I wonder what the difference between the part number MGL (inexpensive) vs. MSL (expensive) MicroGard oil filters the website is showing. I may have to check it out as I just bought a Hengst oil filter from Rockauto delivered for like $18.50.

best priced place to get Toyota TPMS sensor replaced

I’m sort of in the same boat with my ‘15 Sienna but no flashing lights yet. In my limited research, the way I understood it, the sensors that are preprogrammed have the data flashed into the chip already but your vehicle is still looking for the original numbers that were previously paired up so...

Tires with different dates and country of origin

I agree this topic comes up often and the consensus is usually 50/50 from every researched post, article, advice, statement with “warehouse controlled environment and you’re fine” to “no way, I paid money for fresh matching set inventory“. Not as much as the fault of the tire mfg but more so...

Tires with different dates and country of origin

I just got 4 Conti’s this month and 2 were fmfg in Ecuador 2023 and the other 2 were from Russia molded in 2021 all delivered together. A little concerned but all balanced with nothing odd and the highest of 2oz on one rim side. No vibrations so guess I’m ok.
