Oil on the whole dipstick when first shut down. '08 CRV

You're absolutely correct! Almost 50 years ago to the day, I was working in a Crown Gasoline station in Plainfield, NJ. We always washed windshields but a squeegee was not allowed. As part of our Crown uniform which included dark blue khaki pants and light blue button down, collared shirt, we...

    Best windshield wipers?

    I've been satisfied with Duralast.

What do you buy with cash?

It also depends on why you have the cash, how much you have and perhaps why you don't want to deposit it in the bank. Depending on the place, it may also be cheaper to use cash than a card. Many gas stations have a cash price and a credit price. The diner we get take out from prints both prices...

    Best way through New Jersey?

We vacation in Cape May and I always make a point of bringing the bicycle. Ride the bike over to the ferry terminal and cross over in about 90 minutes to Delaware and then ride around into Cape Henlopen and Fort Miles. Ride through the trails and come out by Rehoboth beach. There's a great deal...

"Thank You" no longer a thing?

If I attend a wedding, I try to at least have the gift cover the expense of us being there; food, drink, entertainment, etc. In the case of the wedding I didn't attend, it was one of my oldest friend's daughter. I felt it appropriate. If she ever gets married a second time, she's SOL!!

"Thank You" no longer a thing?

This was not a hospital. It was a small, independently owned P/T facility. Yes, I could have just said thank you and walked out the door and hopefully, never see them again. I have in my life, gotten very few tips, but when I do, I've always appreciated it so I tend to be a tipper. If I go to...

"Thank You" no longer a thing?

I don't consider it to be validation, just good manners. It is the way that I was brought up by my parents. To me, the lack of manners and common decency does not bode well. I see the same lack of manners on the highway every day on my way home from work. Traffic can be inching along at 2 mph...

"Thank You" no longer a thing?

I'm 67 and finding that many times when I think people should acknowledge a gift, it just doesn't happen. My good friend's (I was his Best Man) daughter got married a couple of years ago but it was in Georgia and I responded that I could not attend. I did send a check to the bride and groom for...

How much wildlife do you see from your house window?

My favorite sighting happened about 2 years ago while bicycling through a vacant office complex just behind my house. A Bald Eagle swooped down no more than 15 feet from me at eye level and then flew up giving me a perfect view of his/her back. It literally sent chills down my spine it was so...

    Valvoline Restore & Protect

I asked him the same question a little while back in a different thread. He blends his own oil although he has used many different off the shelf oils over the years.

Are these headlight housings too far gone to polish?

I've used Magic Eraser pads and gotten results very similar to the kits that cost $35.00+. Every 3-4 months while the oil is draining, I clean the headlights. Easier and cheaper than replacing the whole assembly.

Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing a Must-See

You're right! I was there many, many years ago. If you're a race fan and not too far from Ocala, it's definitely worth a visit.

    How OLD are you.

I'm so old that when we went out to play, my parents had no idea where we were, who we were with or what we were up to. I'm so old that going to Burger King was a treat, and a rare one at that. I'm so old we had one rotary phone and one B&W TV in the house. I'm so old that I remember the TV...

Our trip to the 108th running of the Indy 500

Thank you for sharing your wife's story. It made me cry because of the memories it brought to the surface. In 1992, our first born son developed problems 12 hours after birth. He had a very serious heart defect, Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. He was transferred by ambulance to a hospital in...

Our trip to the 108th running of the Indy 500

Thanks for sharing, so well written, I felt like I was there too. Good luck with the health issues! Loved the throwback photo of the wife. Unless that's you in the brown jacket in the back-round, you weren't the only guy diggin' her! LOL Sounds like you have a great life partner!

    Haas F1

It seems like Andretti's only way in to F1 is to buy an existing team. Could be a match made in heaven for Haas (if he wants out) and Andretti.

    Gravesite theft and vandalism

About 5 years ago, there was a local florist in the town next to where I live who was caught stealing flowers from the cemetery and re-selling them in her shop. That shop closed soon after.

    New Pennzoil racing oil

Pennzoil is introducing a new racing oil at Indy this year. It is made up of a re-refined base oil. Interesting since they are so heavily invested in touting the benefits of their GTL base oil. https://www.pennzoil.com/en_us/latest/pennzoil-performance-plus-racing-oil.html
