going thicker with variable displacement oil pump

not that I know of .... Then how does the car know the actual oil pressure? It surely must have some form of sensor to trigger the low oil pressure warning somehow?

going thicker with variable displacement oil pump

@930.engineering: Ravenol REP 5W30 is whats in the engine atm - unfortunately I already experience rising oil levels due to what seems like hardcoded DPF regen intervals (every 200 miles, regardless of pure city driving, high speed highway driving or fuel saving highway driving)....

what to use on door seals

Modern door seals (are they even rubber anymore? My guess would go to polymer based materials?) Some say silicone is good - protects and cares, others say stay away from silicone.... Meguiars Ultimate Protectant? (UV clear coat technology)? 303 aerospace? silicone spray? I would like a...

going thicker with variable displacement oil pump

which one? The EcoDiesel is a FCA / VM - who designed what is beyone me - but VM motori is owned by FCA since a few years, so I guess both share technologies... My 1.6 multijet is a true Fiat Powertrain engine

going thicker with variable displacement oil pump

yes it is in an Alfa. The 1.6 multijet is based on the legendary 1.9 JTD engine which many consider one of the best common rail diesel engines. I had 2 of the old 1.9 JTDs (which used 5W40 oil btw), a 2.4 5cyl JTD and now the 1.6 Multijet 2 which basically is a smaller bore version of the old...

Delo 600 is not available in Europe as far as I've seen, but I do have some DPF compatible 10W30 and 15W40 on hand.

going thicker with variable displacement oil pump

I have a 1.6 litre FCA Diesel engine with a variable displacement oil pump, the car is equipped with a DPF and urea NOX system. Factory calls for 0W20 (Acea C2! Try to find an 0W20 C2 oil other than the manufacturers oil!) oil, the same engine the year before (apparently also with a variable...

Non-DPF engine oil in Diesel BMW F10

good approach, on my 2019 1.6 JTDM2 they specify 0W20 Selenia (altough C2 so minimum 2.9 HTHS). Personally I dont trust 0W20 in a Diesel (even with ACEA C2), so I'm using 5W30 ACEA C3 (and look for VW 504/507 as well as MB 229.51). 0W20 with ACEA C2 and Fiat spec is also a interesting move since...

Non-DPF engine oil in Diesel BMW F10

as I thought - as long as you are not burning significant amount of oil there likely wont be an issue. If you take a look in the heavy industries world: Almost everything is DPF equipped now, and the HDEO Low Saps oil are around 1% with variation lower and higher SA content. Is there any...

Non-DPF engine oil in Diesel BMW F10

You're on here long enough to know that that statement is not entirely true. I agree in that, if you continuously run full saps oil you shorten the DPF life by a certain amount. The less oil you burn the less the DPF life shortening. I disagree with the fact that you state that the ash from...

    Oil gone bad in storage?

8 or 9 year old oil here from a gallon container, opened years ago, stored outside in the shed - still using it without side effects in less expensive motorised equipment. So far no issues.
