    Driving style

I do tow during the Summer months but the load isnt that great, maybe 5-6000 pounds. I went with this truck becasue my F150 was gutless when towing my boat and I could do no better than 10 mpg. So yes, the F250 is probably more truck than I need 70% of the time. But I really like it when I tow...

    Boat engines and WOT

I have a 22 foot bay boat with a 250 Suzuki 4 stroke. May rpm is 5800 and around 57 mph on the gps. I can maintain plane down to around 2300 rpm and that is good for around 22 mph. My sweet spot is 4000 rmp at 42-44 mph.

    Driving style

Im very interested in comments form those with real world diesel experience. So here is the question. How much, if any, does driving style effect the long term reliability of a diesel engine? I ask becuase I tend to drive my vehicle very gently. I don't think I do it out of a concern for long...

    Delvac 15-40 in NC

I guess going the cheap route wasnt the best decision. At least the next change will be easy now that I have installed the drain valve. Looks like I have a very slight leak coming from the filter as well. I made sure the old o-ring came off with the old filter and it's definitley not cross...

    Delvac 15-40 in NC

Honestly I went with the Delvac because it was on sale. I am having a hard time finding conventional oil in any grade other than 15-40. Semi and full synthetics are available in other grades but the cost is nearly double. I have noticed a decrease of about 1.5 mpg (on the computer) since...

    Delvac 15-40 in NC

I have the 6.7 powerstroke and I believe it's the Delvac 1300 super in 15-40. It was on sale at Wal-Mart for $12.97 a gallon.

    Delvac 15-40 in NC

I just did change #3 in mt F250. Im at 14,000 miles and went from Rotella T6 (5-40) to Delvac 15-40. The Delvac is obviously much thicker than the Rotella. What I am wondering is if the 15-40 is OK to run this winter. Im in NC and it doesnt get crazy cold here. Now that I have my drain valve...

    Powerstroke

I guess I fell into the "synthetic" trap.... Only a few dollars more and all that. If my MPG goes down I will probably switch back.

Consumer Reports rates the new Impala best

I doubt anyone is paying what GM is asking for their cars... Im glad GM is improving but IMO the Impalla is not a very good looking car. The rear end proportions just seem off. Interior is improved but still not up with either Ford, Lexus or European imports. GM needs to hire a former Audi...

    Powerstroke

Typo... 6.7 not 7.3. It's a 2013 F250. Not sure what I was thinking when I typed that. I definitley did not use any scientific methods just seat of the pants. As some have suggested my own subconcious need to feel like spending the money on full synthetic may be overpowering my objectivity. I...

    Powerstroke

I recently changed over to Rotella T6 after 8,000 miles on stock Motorcraft and Delo oil in my new 7.3 Powerstroke. I swear that the engine is quieter and seems to rev more quickly. Am I just imagining things?

    Slight Over fill

I did my first oil change on the F250 the other day. What a mess, even though I was prepared for the volume of oil I still spilled a bunch on th edarn driveway. Anyway I think I slightly over filled the engine with oil. The level is just above the hash markes on the dipstick. Is this that big of...

    6.7 Power Stroke

One more thing, is there any benefit to doing the first oil change early? Im at 2200 miles right now and have been thinking about doing the first change and putting T6 in it.

    6.7 Power Stroke

I think Im going to run the T6, all I have ever used is synth. I guess I am just one of those people that enjoys some extra peace of mind (probably just percieved) from running a fully synthetic oil. Not sure if I will be able to go 7500 miles either... I tend to over maintain all of my...
