What type of pistol holster do you use?

I have a DeSantis ankle holster for my model 23 Glock and a Blackhawk for my model 35 when I'm not carrying the 23 on my ankle. kwg

    No more super gun oils

We used Break Free when I was in the National Guard. Break free is a great lube but a lousy cleaner. The reason the Army went to a one stop lube/cleaner is so they would not have to handle and dispose of a cleaning solvent. (EPA **) I use mineral spirits on my play and duty firearms and drain...

Anyone here who drove in the 1970's NOT use 10W-40?

I used a lot of 30 weight in the summer and 10 or 20 weight in the winter. I still have some cans of Valvoline 10 weight under the work bench and a can puncher spout to go with them. kwg

New Engine for the Next Century??

My guess is some one will buy up the rights and it will be buried forever and never be made available to the public. We've all seen it before. kwg

    Lubricating Firearms with Turbine Oil

I have used 23699 (milspec #) It seems to work well but it has a strong odor that may be annoying. kwg

    MI Garand lubes?

I use 80-90 weight gear lube on my Garands. It seems thick enough to stay where I put it but it's not grease as the purists use. kwg

Is the SOCOM Pistol avail for public Sales?

A clone 1911 throws the same 45 acp bullet. If you look around the cheap government model 45's go for between $300 and $500. If you have to have a silencer be prepard to spend some money and get uncle Sam's permission. Yea, yea, yea, I know, it's not pretty unless it's plastic. kwg

Tire Pressure....how much is too much?

As I recall from working in a tire shop years ago the pressure on the tire is for a certain amount of weight on the tire. It will read something like 40psi @ 1550 lbs. How much vehicle weight is on each corner of your particular vehicle? That can sometimes be found in the owners manual or on the...

    question on gas

I have been using 10% ethanol in all of my cars since the late 1970's. It's sold cheaper here in Iowa because they don't tax the 10% ethanol part. (state optional) The tax is on the remaining 90% dino fuel. I've yet to have an engine problem from the ethanol gasoline even on an older Buick GS...

What Oil does the U.S. Army use in their Tanks & Hummers?

The milspec number for turbine engines is 23699. It's synthetic and I know Shell was making lots of it but anyone who can show it meets milspec synthetic turbine oil specs can sell it to the Military. It's also used in aviation gear boxes and transmissions. Don't quote me but I thought the...

Mixing Old Oil with New Oil Questions

Toocrazy The only good thing about the low mileage vehicles is they pay a ton of road use and fuel taxes. These tax dollars are very precious to our hired help (elected representitives) in Washington D.C. (I'm ready to fire some of our hired help. They have forgotten who hired them) At least we...

    Ethanol Gas

Ethanol and bio diesel is the future. Good, Bad or ugly get used to the idea. Some stations in Iowa sell 85% ethanol. It costs less than regular gasoline but you get less mileage. Also in Iowa we pay less for 10% ethanol because only the real gasoline is taxed and not the ethanol. kwg

Who here lived through the gas crisis?

I worked at a gas station in 1971 selling gasoline for .29 cents up to .34 cents a gallon. I see our current situation with imported oil as being very similar to 1973 and again in 1979. It's time to come up with some plans to stop this merry go round. kwg

any one used this before (tufoil)

I used to use it for my guns. I have never seen it for motor oil. It worked pretty good on the guns. In fact, it's been so long since I have seen it I thought it was out of business. kwg

    Ford Ranger Manual Transmission

I just changed the oil in my Ford Ranger manual transmission. It had around 35k on it and the last time I had it changed was at the local Texaco quick lube several years ago. The owners manual calls for ATF and I put Pennsoil Mercron III in it. Now I have a harmonic vibration that makes the...

Jet A1 with anti icing additive in a new diesel

Hello Mojo I'm not trying to flame anyone but as a UH1 crewchief we used JP4 for years. As a crew chief we either fueled the bird or we were responsible to see the bird refueled. Every where we flew and bought commercial fuel (off post) it had to be Jet A with anti ice in it. Jet B was an...

Jet A1 with anti icing additive in a new diesel

Jet A is also JP4. the JP4 is about 30% white gas and the rest super refined kerosene and an anti ice we call pristine. (anti water and anti jell) We now use JP8 because it has a higher flash point and it works better in military deisel trucks. JP4 works in deisel trucks but it may burn too hot...

Wow Hoppes really doesn't work well!!!

Go to Brownell's web site and then click on "Gun Tech" tab and then onto "How To Articles" there is a gun oil test and they test several oils and their spray cleaner. WD-40 may not be the best but it works and price is right. It means you have to dig out your guns every once in a while and pay a...

Wow Hoppes really doesn't work well!!!

I think we all have our own way of cleaning and lubing our guns. I have several stainless firearms and I use cheap walmart spray carburator cleaner at 88 cents a can to get the really heavy stuff off and a mix of wd-40 and paint thinner or some cheap bottled walmart carburater cleaner mixed with...
