I have a 06 ford with the 3.Liter DOHC motor I buy gas at Kroger the motor will have a pinging sound but when I use shell gas it seems to go away is this all in my head ??? Can cheap gas make your motor ping?????? thanks

2006 mariner 3.0 motor now makes a very loud squeal when its put in any gear started as my wife had to take off fast so she would not get readended all belts are fine and only does it under load (In gear) I don't know what it could be.

Just went to meijer today all the mobil 1 HM syn oil in QTs was all api sl only the 5.1 jugs was sn I could understand them trying to sell the sm but where did they get all this api sl? Anyone know if its ok to use oil that old ?
