0W30 usually has a slightly higher NOACK over 5W30 so you may get more oil burn off with 0W30. Conversely, you may see better ingredients contained in 0W30 oils vs 5W30 (see Mobil 1 0w30 vs Mobil 1 ESP 5w30 oil threads).

Today bought Valvoline Restore and Protect 5W30 + Microgard Select oil filter bundle for $38 at O’Reilly Auto Parts. (Limit 2 - Deal good through 6/23).

That NOACK number seems high for an oil that is supposed to help with oil consumption after cleaning rings .

Today I see Valvoline Restore and Protect 5W30 up to $38 at Amazon and $41 at WM for 5 qrt. jug… Best then to do an oil filter included + Valvoline Restore and Protect special then at your local auto parts store for $40’ish .

I would think RIG grease would be a bit too heavy to use on slide rails ? I’d use your gear oil there too if that’s what you want to use.

Mobil 1 Advanced Clean was a long shot for me to consider after planned usage of Valvoline Restore and Protect. Now I’m back to only considering Mobil 1 ESP 0w30 or just staying with Valvoline Restore and Protect.

What is your favorite liquid to use when claying your vehicles ? I would think that a quick detailing spray would be a popular choice but the only thing I have on hand is distilled water in a spray bottle and Griots 3:1 Ceramic Spray ?

Other major brand oils are roughly $2.00 cheaper at WM than Valvoline Restore and Protect. Averaged over a 4K - 5K mile OCI is not much of a cost difference adder for an oil that cleans hard carbon deposits on pistons and oil ring packs.
