Good question on the oil drain plug : I tighten by hand with a socket wrench until I feel the drain plug plus crush washer are firmly tight but I don’t go overboard and wrench it down to max strength . I always clean the oil drain plug threads as well as inside and outside the oil drain opening...

Very good oil filter - just wished the outer gasket was a little thicker / beefed up to seal better as I had to tighten mine down a bit more than my previous Fram Ultras to prevent oil leaks in the drive way .

Your reply makes no sense - I’m happy if M1 EP can go 18K or any OCI a user wants to run it in their vehicles … Makes no difference to me.

Again , the Kia Sorento , or Toyota Highlander are my yardstick of measure for a mid-size SUV … Conversely the Toyota RV4 (or similar) SUV is too small thus I put them into “large compact SUV’s but not mid size like the Highlander or Sorento are.

I like the size of the Kia Sorento , I like that it is an SUV that sits up high (easier access in and out with bad legs) , 3rd row seat I am neatral on . The new Mazdas SUV’s that sit lower like a car are a no - go. While I like the size and higher seating of the Kia Sorento , I won’t buy one...

Either an all gas or hybrid SUV that is good quality and reliable - talk me out of a Toyota Highlander as currently it checks more boxes than anything else I have found to date in a mid size SUV . P.S. No Hyundai / Kia please as I just completed a 12 step program on making bad previous decisions .

If Hyundai / Kia stated to ONLY use their oil filters - then they would have to supply them to you for free (Magnuson - Moss Warranty Act).

M1 0W30 ESP with a 12 cSt and 3.5 HTHS would be on my short list of oils to try plus it meets SP and a host of Euro requirements .

I believe Valvoline was working with an Indian lab when the magic RP cleaning ingredient was discovered .

To add , what does the Lexus Australian version , Malaysian , Saudi Arabian version or some other warm countries owners manual call out for the same engine ? If 5W30 is allowed in other warm temp countries then that is what I would be using . If you have any concerns , you could move up to PPPP...

Agreed ! I’m doing the opposite coming from my current fill of 0W30 ESP to 5W30 VRP (on deck next) .
