Is Toyota 0W-20 SN made in heaven?

I wonder what a blend of 3 quarts TGMO and 2 quarts PU 0w-40 would yield? Any thoughts?

Pennzoil Ultra on closeout, is it worth hoarding?

I live in the Tulsa,Oklahoma area. They closed out the PU at $21 for the 5qt jugs and $5 for the quarts. I bought the last 3 jugs of 5w20 and the last 3 quarts of the same. My 2006 Corolla S 1zz-fe really worked well with this. haven't checked yet to see if the Autozone or Advance Auto carry...

    Penzzoil Ultra 5W-30 being recalled????

I was at the local China Mart this morning and the shelves were stocked with PU. I asked the manager of the department and he said it was selling well at the store here. They have just received their second shipment of it. I have converted several people in the area to it and all of them so far...

5w30 Instead Of 5w20 In Modular V8 Ford Tech..

Well,if my '02 has a cam phaser, it must be on stun, because mine has never seen 5W-20 since the factory fill which departed 750 miles after purchase. As I stated, it has seen Chicago winters well below 18*F and Arizona summers of 120*F and has performed without fail on 10w-30 syn.

    Got an email from Amsoil....

Glad I could help. The equivilent Filter in Fram is a PH2849A. If you decide to go with something other than Amsoil you will have a cross-reference number if you decide to use a different filter but have the higher volume benefit.

5w30 Instead Of 5w20 In Modular V8 Ford Tech..

I have an '02 E-150 XLT with a 5.4 with the towing package (trans and oil coolers) It has 144k miles and used 10w-30 synthetic it's entire life. Cuurently on it's first fill of Pennzoil Ultra. I was told by a Ford garage to use 10w-30. They said there were issues with engines running the...

    Help with L14610 / PH7317 Sizing (Honda)

Amsoil Eao36 Equivilent to a Fram PH2849A Used them on my son's 94 Accord EX since new, now appraching 300 k miles. Just installed one on a 2010 civic Si 2.0 yesterday. Bypass is within 1psi of stock filter psi.

    Got an email from Amsoil....

Just looked it up to be sure. Eao13 bypass is 13 psi. Eao36 bypass is 12 psi. Since the tolerance is +/- 1 psi, there will be no problem. Also, on the Civic Si, the filter is located on the passenger side on the back of the block. The crossmember and the rack and pinion make it very...

    Got an email from Amsoil....

I am a lifetime Amsoil dealer using Amsoil since 78. I will give Gary and some other Amsoil Dealers the nod they are more saavy than I about the product line and oil specs, but I have done a lot of cross referencing filters and 15 years ago Amsoil tech support gave me the nod on using this...

    Got an email from Amsoil....

Just changed a 2010 Civic Si 2.0 oil today. Installed 5w-30 Pennzoil Ultra and a Amsoil SDF36 and it fit perfect. Filter was easily double capacity of the stocker and the Amsoil filter will be easier to remove than the stock little smokies can it came with. There is a heat shield that really...

need advice quickly - blown engine

Also, swapping an LS1 into a car and all of the wiring harness, sensors, exhaust, AC, computer, etc. into a car that never had it would be quite an undertaking for someone who can only check oil. Every year of vette is a collector to someone. No real sense in cannibalizing it when a long block...

Help with oil recommendation for 66 Corvair

I agree Gary. But, this is a car that will probably be babied and air cooled engines are harder on oil. I was thinking since this is a classic and they have gone to the expense of a rebuild/resto that better is what they would want. Both my '84 Hurst Olds and '66 Dodge Hemi Coronet get upper...

Help with oil recommendation for 66 Corvair

Amsoil ACD Meets both 10w and SAE 30 specs, high resistance to volatility and will protect against sludging in the high humidity of OK. Good price on this oil if someone will let you have it at dealer cost.

    2011 Ford 5.0 - Oil

I just thought you were implying it will run 10's stock. I didn't even look before my post, I just guessed by the HP and weight and when I looked it up, Motor Trend's test mule ran 12.8 at 110. There is more left in that engine that is for sure, with less than $1200 worth of mods and...

    2011 Ford 5.0 - Oil

412 HP and 3500 lbs isn't going to run high 10's. Maybe 12.80 on a good day.

need advice quickly - blown engine

You need to find someone reputable to look at the situation for you. You need to keep the original motor for posterity. If it is indeed blown, just remove it and crate it. If you decide at some point to sell the car, the next owner has the original engine if they decide to put it back to a...

    Ditching the whole synthetic rave...

"OK, I can't let this go. And what does this have anything to do with oil???" It was just a response to his snide remark about my brain being effected by a lack of O2. I wasn't saying it as in any reference to my credibility of oil, just a smart response to his. Regards and I hope you are...

    Ditching the whole synthetic rave...

BTW, I am from Illinois and know a little bit about cold weather. Also, my family built quite a lucrative engine service that allowed me to build and work on whatever I wanted. It also allowed me many privileges that otherwise I wouldn't have. I have only lived in Oklahoma 3 years. I am actually...
