Post your latest boat or PWC oil and filter change

I just did the 20 hour service on my 2023 Yamaha 150. I got the 20 hour kit from partsvu for $160. Perfect way to go. Has everything required, plus a hand pump for the lower gear case oil. This service is around $1k at the dealer and a 3 hour round trip.

Nice day on the boat - pics

Yes the 150. I thought it might be underpowered but then I saw the Yamaha test report on this hull and it does mid 40s with a light load. Which is more than enough for us. Yesterday we had 3 adults + 3 kids, full cooler, food, gear and toys. It rode great and had plenty of power. This is my...

Need opinions on cost to potentially finish a half-built house

OP here. Thanks for all the replies, it's a lot to consider. Currently it is way overpriced. It is currently listed at $490k, down from $550k a few months ago. It's on 5 acres, with a creek in the back. And a completed 30x40 workshop on concrete. We're getting some local opinions on whether...

Need opinions on cost to potentially finish a half-built house

Around 6 months. The owners were subcontracting out most of the work. Nothing wrong with site or structure, so far that we know. The owners ran into financial problems and have to sell. No other details.

An aviation crash that may be of interest

Wow that guy is lucky. So I have my PPL checkride this month. One of the local outlying airports has a similar setup to this. However, the trees are cleared out below the approach path and the power lines are loaded with the orange balls. So they are very easy to see and avoid. Still, if you...

    2020 BMW x3M

I predict both of these will be true. The B58/S58 is insanely efficient. When you're not having fun.

The E90 got broadsided by a deer tonight.

I'm just impressed by the metal interior structure of that side mirror. Most everything is plastic these days. Glad you're ok.

    Explorer engine options

Only reason we're on our 3rd Explorer is because my wife's family was employed by Ford for a few decades. Otherwise I don't think they are anything special and we would have an X5 or similar. It drives nice and it is comfortable for 2 adults and 3 kids. We drive to south Florida a few times a...

Any new cars/SUVs under $30K worth getting?

Haha good luck going from a 5 series to anything new under $30k. So I would say NO there is nothing worth getting that is new under $30k. I would say, get a new 3 series for around $40k. Otherwise... 530 with the m54 inline 6? That is one of the finest engines ever made. How is the rest of the...

Small Plane Crash on Take Off - Student Pilot

Think it was an aerodynamic stall of the wing, not an engine stall. Early reports are the student locked up on the controls and the cfi could not overpower. At that altitude there just was not enough time to recover.

At Ford Quality is Now Problem 1

Interesting. Our 21 Explorer is starting to have the front windows acting up. Half the time when you roll them up they hit the up limit and roll back down automatically. It takes 2 or 3 tries to get them to stay up. The dealer was like a 2 week wait just to diagnose it. Haven't gotten that far...

Well the BMW puked a water pump

FYI its the B58 with mechanical water pump. They went back to those for some reason. And its still worth it. I could never drive another Asian car, any of them. I know they are more reliable. I spend a lot of time in the car so, its got to be fun. And comfortable.

Well the BMW puked a water pump

Literally on the way to the dealer for an oil change special. Got the low coolant warning halfway there. Only a few miles away so no problem getting there. Pull into the shiny clean service entrance and coolant is pouring onto the tile. LOL. Service guy yells out, someone bring a mop! We got a...
