Oil abd OCI in the U.K.

^I have to agree, I think people jump the gun on changing the oil to soon. I just follow the OLM so I don't really have to count or anything on it. What is the size of the average sump over there? I know my 98 devilles 7.5qt sump certainly could let me go longer than those with smaller ones...

Pennzoil Platinum v Quaker State Adv Eng Syn

That's what I'm asking, how much difference will I see? :P I got zero noticeable leakage with the Castrol GTX HM 10w-30 (their site says "9.3-12.5") I'm getting a bit of seepage from Kendall 5w-30 GT1 Synthetic Blend (10.9)that has slowed down since adding a quart (maybe 2) of Kendall 5w-30 GT1...

Pennzoil Platinum v Quaker State Adv Eng Syn

I've seen PP runs a bit thin in the 5w-30 relm. Synthetics being better in cold weather I suppose I could just run the recommended 10w-30 in my caddy all year round and not bother with switching to 5w-30 in the winter if I went the synthetic route. For shear concerns pre-2000 northstar users...

Pennzoil Platinum v Quaker State Adv Eng Syn

Both are buy one get one at Advanced Auto Parts Was thinking of getting a couple cases or a case for my 98 Deville. Figure this stuff is well enough to follow the OLM with the AA filters. Which one is better are they basically just a coin flip...

    Size issue with "Orange Can"

I don't own a toyota but from this picture its even smaller than the AC-Delco for my 98 caddy:

Okay, one more time. Why NOT Fram?

I'd go with the white Napa for under 2 bucks rather than the frams. I guess they are an ok budget filter and my caddy hasn't had any problems for 3 or 4 years its received them.

AAP Filters and Purolator The SAME FILTER

just bought a 2 of these for the caddy, received 2 free, during the month of January all house brand filters are buy one get one, they guarantee they meet or exceed the OEM oil filter....not sure if that really means much though. Since I usually only change the oil myself once a year I'm covered...

    Maxlife/GTX/M1EP seal conditioner-results

I have an extra quart of Kendall High Mileage w/ Seal Max, its thier primary selling point for the oil and seems to have stopped my drips, I'll get some gasket materials from somewhere and see what happens.

    Napa Pro-Select oil filter

if memory serves these are the white Napa filters and my local shop uses them at every change, the caddy Northstar with its 7.5qt thirst for oil seems to be fine with them, looking inside from the oil filler cap all is nice and clean, usually go by the OLM for changes or when its convenient to...

    Havoline vs Castrol GTX

Will have to give this havoline a try, doing a search on the site brings up stuff that makes it seem perfect for a dino liking 98 deville. The Northstar takes 7.5QTs with filter so oil changes can be expensive, most of the time the 25-30 dollar oil change service at the trusted shop I go to...

Are new oils so good that synthetic oil is doomed?

hard to convince people to change thier ways and go past that 3000mi mark. Should I mention "GMOLS" or is that hieracy on this board :P I follow it in my 98 Deville and seems to be ok. Thinking of doing an UOA at the end of this interval to see how it does going by the GMOLS or EOLI or OLM or...

    98 Northstar=Flat Tappets

I should also mention, I have sitting on my desk a Blackstone Labs kit that I could send back at the next oil change, only reason I didn't get the Castrol High Mileage sent in was because I had it changed at a shop since my schedule was booked up. Would've been neat to see how well that oil held...

    98 Northstar=Flat Tappets

thanks for the reply and holiday wishes to you too, Merry Christmas in my case. I'd like to stick to what the factory recommendeds for viscosity, 5w-30 or 10w-30 but I have no idea what "ZDDP high" oils their are in that range, my search on this forum got my head full of more information but...
