Did you start your car with the solvent contaminated oil after your piston soak to smoke it before changing your oil or did you change your oil immediately after the soak and start your car? If you have some used oil left from that drain if you didn't dump it out yet, try to get it analyzed.

Pretty sure that VRP 0W-20 has been tinned out from the start by left over solvents from your piston soak... Kinda dangerous.

They have some good hardware I kinda want one. Other than their EPR flush and 44K which in my experience with my own vehicles, family and friends; all have had a positive experience. I find their MOA and other additives iffy, they seemed to be pushed around here by local dealerships.

Unfortunate that you encountered this problem too. Seems like they're press fitting these center cores into the media that molded glue ring cracks around them. I also moved on from Toyota filters as well after the same experience; sticking with OG Fram Ultra/Titanium, Donaldson & Fleetguard...

I use a cap wrench and torque all my filters regardless of vehicle make to 9 to 9.5 foot pounds with a torque wrench which is roughly over 1 full turn after gasket contact. Its what Toyota universally spec's when using their SST cap wrench tool on all their spin-ons but have found it to work...

Looks like its OEM by Baldwin, same louver and gasket sealed bypass spring assembly design as their usual heavy duty filters. They normally have a 2 piece ADBV from my experience of cutting their red cans open at work.

@Glenda W. @ltslimjim My reply earlier was a little half baked since I thought you meant the 4459. The 4622 & 4612 is the jobbers cross to the 6607 / 7317, most shops uses a one size filter and generally favor the smaller ones over a 7317 size. I pulled a Mighty TL4612 from a Honda long ago...

I'd say no because this filter is fat like the KIA & Subaru OEM filters, which are 80mm in diameter and has 15 flutes at the end.

I did a quick search here and skimmed though the photos from others that C&P the same filter. Yeah they all look fine and normal compared to this. See you in 3000 miles I'll post another FE9688 by then. :cool:
