Exterior looks like a nice evolution over the current CX-5. It's exterior dimensions will be larger than the current gen, hopefully improving the interior cargo room and passenger space...
Out of curiosity, at what point would you call it quits on a vehicle? I'm currently in a dilemma, I have a 2023 Mazda CX-50 that has been having more problems than one would expect with a 2.5 year old car and only ~38k miles. It is currently in the shop for a low oil pressure issue. TBD if its...
This is the filter off my 2023 Mazda CX-50 2.5S. It was in use from July 24th, 2024 to April 23rd, 2025 and for 9831mi and 312 engine hours. Overall the filter construction is consistent with previous C&P of this filter and is very well built. Carbon deposits in the filter appear to be minimal...
Just received the latest UOA for my Mazda CX-50 2.5S, the naturally aspirated 2.5L Skyactiv engine. The oil used was Pennzoil Platinum 0W-20 with a Mazda 1WPE-14-302 filter. It was replaced with the same.
This oil was in use from July 24th, 2024 to April 23rd, 2025. During that time it was...
Just finished a holiday road trip (~700 miles one way) in my 2023 Mazda CX-50 2.5S. Heading back home on Sunday with my OBD MX+ plugged in, I’m able to monitor all sorts of different parameters on my Mazda including actual engine oil temperature, not just the estimated oil temp. While I don’t...
The EPA recently released its automotive trends report for the 2023 model year.
The highlights are all vehicle mpg for the 2023 model year was 27.1mpg (319g/mi, real world), that includes BEVs and PHEVs. For MY2022 it was 26.0mpg (337g/mi, real world). Without BEVs and PHEVs the MY2023 number...
I thought some people here maybe interested in this information, so I put together my thoughts and my understanding of GPFs into this post.
TLDR: Increasing criteria pollution regulation (NOx, NMOG, CO, PM) are driving the need to add particulate filters to the exhaust after-treatment systems...
This filter is off my 2023 Mazda CX-50 2.5S. The filter was in use for 9771 miles, 255 hours, and 7 months. Overall the filter held up well, I didn't notice any tears in the media. This filter was replaced with the same, 1WPE-14-302.
This filter is off a 2015 Honda Civic 1.8L. It was in use for 6878 miles and 1 year. The anti-drain back valve was still pliable and holding oil. The media looked good without any tears. A TG7317 when back on in its place.
Another year has gone by, that means another oil change and UOA completed on my Wife's 2015 Honda Civic. Same as last time, the OLM was showing 10% left again. The oil in the analysis is 50/50 mix of Castrol GTX FS and Supertech 10k version both 0W-20. This car is mostly short tripped, so not...
Here is the latest UOA for my Mazda CX-50 2.5S (N/A 2.5L). Please enjoy the information overload.
The oil was in use from Dec 24th 2023 to July 24th 2024. Over that time I covered 9771 miles, which included approximately 4400 miles in road trips. Otherwise the this is our run around vehicle, so...
I was reading through some R&D papers that Honda releases on their website and thought people here would be interested in it. FYI, this is probably gonna be a very long post.
TLDR: Fuel sticks to cylinder walls and ends up in the engine oil.
Since you can't post PDFs on BITOG, here is the...
This is the filter off my latest oil change on my Mazda CX-50 2.5S. This filter had 8043mi on it when I took it off. The oil was Mazda 0W-20 GF-5. Overall the filter looks quite stout and held up quite well.

This is the first oil analysis for my 2023 Mazda CX-50 2.5S i.e. the naturally aspirated 2.5L engine. I was able to pull quite a bit of data using the OBD MX+ scan tool and I will discuss that below. The oil in the sample was from the complimentary oil change that came with the vehicle purchase...
Filter came off a 2015 Honda Civic 1.8L CVT
Filter Interval: 6612 miles and 1 year (7/30/22-7/30/23) Oil Life was at 10% when removed.
Anti-drain back valve was still very pliable. Media looked good and I didn’t notice any tears or manufacturing issues with it. Overall, very impressed with...
Came off a 2015 Honda Civic 1.8L CVT
Filter Interval: 6057 miles and 1 year (7/31/21-7/30/22) Oil Life 20%
Anti-drain back valve was still holding oil in after a year and a half of being upside down and was still decently pliable. Filter media looked good, didn’t notice any tears in the media...
Did my first analysis on my wife's 2015 Honda Civic. When I changed it, the OLM was at 10% and had been exactly a year since I last changed it. This car is mostly short tripped and I didn't give the oil much time to warm up before I changed it. So unsurprisingly, there is fuel in the oil but...
