    Mitsubishi Pick-Ups. Who & Where???

So Mitsubish now is selling pick-up, again. The VINs start with "1"! Where in the US are these being produced? I stopped by a dealer to look at them and I kept feeling Dodge Dakota overtones?!?! Are these 100% Mistubishi or another company's re-labled goods, like the Isuzu Hombre/Canyon?

    oooold Jetta need some advice

The 1986 Jetta was one of the BEST Volkswagens imported to the U.S. If the body and electrical are good, this wouldn’t be a bad car to keep around, even if it costs $500-$1000 per year in maintenance. Why did the last owner think it was on its last leg? A lot of times on these CIS engine, the...

TARGET advice: Use Heavier Weight Oil in Winter.

I was strolling through Target the other day, looking for some of that $1.22/qt Mobil 1 15w50. I noticed on one of the oil shelves a little list of tips. One was to change oil every 3000 miles, etc… The one that caught my eye stated to use HEAVIER weight oil in the winter!!! I read & re-read the...

Tire rotation, then out of alignment

About 6 years ago, I had a Dunlop D65 slip a belt, causing a pull after tie rod replacements and alignment. I thought the shop bent/screwed something up, because the car drove straight and true, before I had the tie rods & alignment done. The shop rotated the tires and the pull went away. It...

    ***, volkswagen TDI blown turbo

Jag, The KKK turbos on the gassers have nothing in common with the Garrett VNTs on the TDI, other than compressing air. Smoke and no boost/low power on a TDI can just be a MAF or something in the boost control.

Which oil will get me the best MPG with a VW GTI 1.8T?

I agree that oil weight has a minimal influence on mileage with a 1.8t. Fuel type and octane will influence mileage more with that engine. 87 octane and ethanol blends will give the worst mileage. High octane and 100% gas would give the best mileage.

    ***, volkswagen TDI blown turbo

Could be a loose intake hose, broken intercooler, boots pressure sensor, broken VNT, MAF, ECM, etc...not just internal catostrophic turbo failure. After having a bad TDI, this is why I no longer recommend VWs to friends & family...too many complex expensive system to keep the thing rolling down...

    What oil for nissan 3.5

I've been running whatever 5w30 or 10w30 is a good deal at oil change time, for our 3.5l Quest. I've used the "Mobil" SuperTech, Trop Artic, and Exxon SuperFlo. My dealer uses Citgo, I believe. I don't worry about it too much. Nissan makes great engines. I don't even do oil sampling. I just...

'Lil cousin's car, 3 quarts low, what the heck?

AJ, There is life outside your driveway. Talk to some of the 1000's of people that own late-model 8v 2.0s. All engine consume oil. Some like to drink it like Kool-Ade. (OK, I'll stop now )

'Lil cousin's car, 3 quarts low, what the heck?

I thought most OE Audi/VW rims are Ronal or BBS? Some Ronals look just like OE VW stuff: http://www.ronalusa.com/wheels.html * Just as I suspected, typical break in consumption. Now let’s have someone explain why broken-in VWs are burning 1qt per 1000 or 500 miles, if it is not too off topic.

why does my tear wear like this?

You might have a worn bushing or other suspension component that makes the suspension go out of alignment while moving. Alignement may check out on the rack, but changes once forces and loads are applied to the suspension under power, motion, turning, etc... Have a good mechanical/suspension...

'Lil cousin's car, 3 quarts low, what the heck?

I guess burning a lot of 5w20 is typical for new Honda engines? How was the oil consumption after 10k or 15k miles? I have seen some late model VW/Audis burn over 1 qt every 1k miles, long after break-in. And that is on fancy Xw40 and Xw50 stuff, not that thin MPG oil spec'd for Honda & Ford.

    Stupid Question about NOS...

No, I don't think so. The intake is still under vacuum unless there is some sort of forced induction. (I might be wrong.)

    need help about an accident..

Z, Yes, it sounds like the bozo drive is the cause, not you. You are being called on as a witness to testify for the prosecution (City of Atlanta) against the guy that hit you. If he is found guilty, this will sway more or all fault into his lap. If you don't go to court, the City has no case...

And VWs are supposed to be "people's cars", not RR's.

Generally not impressed with the new VWs

I love my Scirocco. My wife won't let me get rid of it. It is an early '83 with the small rear 'wing' and single front wiper, leather, cruise, etc... Nice car for '83. A lot of the mechanicals are still OE!!! Then VW lost their focus.

Generally not impressed with the new VWs

Believe it or not, when I moved to a small town a few years back, my neighbors thought my old VW Scirocco was "That car from Back to the Future"!!! It made me laugh.

Winter Tire Size ? for ya

You will have to go to a taller aspect ratio to keep the overall diameter the same. 215/65/16 and 205/70/16 would be a better size match, but I am not sure about load requirements and adverse handling effects.
