Where is the Electricity going to come to charge EVs ?

I'm not sure why EV's are such a hot topic, while renewables for home/industry are rarely ever in the news. According to the EPA, transportation only makes up 14% of emissions, while home electricity and heating makes up 25% of global emissions and industry another 21%. We could make a much...

    Parts shortage. Ouch

Ford says it doesn't and I have no proof otherwise. I wouldn't want to drive it for years with a rattle but I'll only put on around 1k miles by mid April (when the parts are supposed to arrive).

    Parts shortage. Ouch

I took my F150 in to get the cam phasers replaced. They told me the parts would arrive in 3 days. 3 days later, they called back and told me the parts wouldn't be in for 3 months. Luckily, it's not urgent and I can keep driving my truck in the meantime.

    F-150 buying advice.

Just out of curiosity, what heavier oil are you using? I've been sticking with 5w-30 Castrol/Valvoline while under warranty.

    Driving a lot for Work

You're right, it's definitely possible to go longer. However, I didn't want my wife calling me from the side of the road 2 states away because her car broke down. We were buying her a car every 200k miles.

Recessed LED bulbs - flickering and burning out prematurely.

I have a very similar issue. The LED recessed lights in our kitchen burn out frequently and they're not on a dimmer or anything special. We had an electrician look at the issue and they said the fixtures weren't grounded properly. Even after their "fix" the bulbs still burn out all the time. I'm...

    Driving a lot for Work

The break-even point is 1,750 miles. Anything over that and option 1 pays more, under and option 2 pays more. If you want to maximize your earnings you would have to keep it between 1,300 - 1,750 miles/month. My wife used to do 30k+ miles a year for her job. All I can say is, save that money...

    Subaru Eyesight

This is a common complaint about adaptive cruise control and the answer is you're following too closely. Remember driver's ed, you're supposed to leave a 3 second gap to the car in front of you (99% of people on the highway don't). I really enjoy adaptive cruise on the highway, but then again...

    2017 Ford 150 3.5 : What a disaster

I hope they got it figured out by 2019. I'm going to stick to a 5w-30/5k mile OCI and we'll see.

EDC Pocket Knives _ Project Farm

My everyday carry is a Victorinox Rambler. It's small enough to forget it's in my pocket and still gets the job done.

T-Mobile - The force to be reckoned with

T-Mobile works great at my house and in town. The problem is that it doesn't work for the 10 miles in between the two, or the surrounding rural areas. Verizon is the best bet in central VA.

    GMC v Chevy Suburbans

Locally, the GMC dealer gives better deals than the Chevy dealer. In 2017 I bought a Sierra for around $4k cheaper than the equivalent Silverado.

In shock at the asking price of single family homes in no growth, low density areas

Colorado requires companies to post a salary range in job postings. This gives them less leverage when negotiating your salary.

138 years? Now that's brand loyalty.

Mid-size pickup decision - Ford Ranger v. Toyota Tacoma??

I bought a brand new 3rd gen Tacoma that I kept less than a year. It might be reliable, but I couldn't suffer through the driving experience any longer. Lesson learned, don't buy on reputation alone, take a LONG test drive. I haven't driven the new Ranger, but I like the Ecoboost in my F150. I...

    Slotted rotors or no?

I have used drilled and slotted rotors before, and I don't care for the vibrations. I would go with the general consensus here and use good fluid and pads. The only thing I would add is that braided steel brake lines can really firm up the pedal feel which is reassuring.

Counterfeit Motorcraft FL-500S from Amazon (possibly)

Thanks for the link. If dealers are selling this design, then I have no reason to believe it's counterfeit.

Counterfeit Motorcraft FL-500S from Amazon (possibly)

I've ordered a few FL-500S filters from Amazon (shipped and sold by Amazon) and the most recent one looks quite odd. In the pictures below, the new filter is the one on the right. Most of the pictures online of a FL-500S show the filter with the small ridges at the top of the filter (including...

    Castrol Magnatec initial impressions.

I've used Kirkland, Magnatec, and Edge in my Ecoboost. The only difference I've noticed is Magnatec seems to be a bit quieter.
