GMC v Chevy Suburbans

Why GMC charging more for there Yukons and Sierra’s over the Tahoes and Sliverado‘s with the same features and Tech 🤬🤬 . Is the dealership experience more upscale?
So you can Drive Like a Pro™️.

Really, the difference between Chevy and GMC is like the difference between Honda and Acura.

Years ago, GMC really was “professional grade” - they were the heavy truck and bus division of GM, Detroit Diesel and Allison also fell under GMC. The GMC logo was on the RTS series of transit buses before GM divested the bus division to Greyhound in New Mexico and eventually NovaBus in Canada.

I could never understand why they didn't ax GMC which just duplicated Chevy, yet they dumped Pontiac and Saturn.
The US Government wondered this too when they guided GM through the restructuring.

Come to find out there is a major difference between Chevy and GMC buyers. GMC buyers tend to be much more affluent than Chevy buyers. So much in fact that if GMC were discontinued, GMC buyers would most likely not buy a Chevy. Without GMC, GM would lose profitability.

Yes, since I have owned them about 50/50 - I must ditch the jeans for Good Money Clothing

Locally, the GMC dealer gives better deals than the Chevy dealer. In 2017 I bought a Sierra for around $4k cheaper than the equivalent Silverado.

Did they forget that Cadillac makes SUVs too?
I’m not really sure. But Cadillac is too valuable to discontinue since it’s GM’s flagship brand, and last I heard the Escalade brings in a whopping $30k in profit to GM on each unit it sells. It’s the most profitable vehicle GM has ever made and I think the profit is even higher now.

Funny thing about Chevy/GMC is that the average person thinks Chevy and GMC are the same, except for some styling differences. The interesting thing is GMC buyers tend to have a higher optional equipment take rate than the Chevy buyer. For this reason GMC vehicles on average have a higher ATP than the Chevy counterpart.

Just wait for the Escalade V to hit the market. It might option out to 150k if you got everything.

They seem to structure it as Chevy being “entry level”, GMC being “mid range”, and Cadillac as high end.
Rappers, professional football/basketball players, and the livery/Uber(UberBlack)/“premium” rental markets are a lucrative Escalade customer base.

my 1997 Sierra. Mint inside and out. Only 90,000 miles. I'll never sell her!

Beautiful. I wish my brother's 97 K1500 was in this shape but his has been used as a work truck for 250K+ miles. Still runs great though.

I ended up buying my 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 as it was almost impossible to find the 6.2 in a double cab config. The Silverado was non existent. I could find crew cabs with the short bed but never a double cab or the crew with a standard bed. I know the short bed is popular for people who generally use their truck to haul around people but I actually use the bed of my truck and need the standard bed. I'd actually prefer to have the long bed but then I'd have to move up to a 2500 to get one with the double cab config and I don't really need that much truck for towing.
