    Your Method of Tire Installation

At work, hand thread, then torque stick. Then lower vehicle till tires touch, so can use a torque wrench, then lower vehicle all the way. At home, I don't have air tools, so I thread by hand with a socket and use a ratchet or breaker to snug up and seat, then lower and torque.

New brakes squek upon takeoff after 1000 miles

Return the pads too in my opinion. Sounds like the backing plate with the wear sensor wasn't stamped correctly. Poorly stamped pads are poor fitting pads and no amount of new hardware will correct that. But with that being said, perhaps it is the worn hardware that is causing new pads not to fit...

New brakes squek upon takeoff after 1000 miles

Ah OK, I put two and two together, its the Malibu if you said it's got 168k on it. If you used pads that had bonded, nitrile-coated shims, there is no need to grease the back of the pads in my opinion. The slight noise as you're braking depending on the pressure applied may be due to dust...

New brakes squek upon takeoff after 1000 miles

Can you please let us know which vehicle, what brand of rotors, type of pads, and did you put in all new clips and caliper hardware or just clean up the old ones? Thanks. To me, it sounds like the pads are not 'lifting' off the rotor when the brakes are not applied which could be due to worn...

    what's this exhaust part called?

Duh, muffler bearings! j/k Ok but for real, I checked rockauto and it shows a "KLARIUS Part # 401645 Kit" which is listed as a catalytic converter installation kit. I wonder if this is what is referred to as the (exhaust) flange bolts. I'm used to the ones that have springs on them. I'm...

Would you buy a car knowing it was in an accident?

For me it would depend on if the accident caused a salvage title to be put on the VIN, along with just how much of a discount under value it's being sold. I also read and hear that salvage titles don't necessarily have to follow the vehicle form state to state, in other words re-register the...

    Recc's for a good food processor...for wife.

http://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-DLC-10S-Classic-7-Cup-Processor/dp/B00004S9EM I've always thought that Cuisinart was synonymous with a food processor. Anyhow, I recommend the ones with the toggle switches versus the touch-buttons; I find that the touch-button ones will wear out after a while...

Bring on the spark plug debate!

If NGK makes a Laser Iridium for the application, I try and use this whenever possible. I have great results with NGK plugs no matter the application. However, for the most part, I stick with the factory plugs. For example, my GF's IS250 specs Denso Iridiums, which are about $11/piece from...

    Flat Tire repair

Some major national tire chains will repair the hole with an inside patch for free, two come to mind right now, Les Schwab and Discount/America's Tire, provided that the tire is still serviceable (less than 6 years old and more than 3/32 tread depth and that the puncture is not in the sidewall...

strange issue on my sons laptop

I wonder if using an external keyboard and mouse would yield different results although I've never really heard of a single right-click producing a deletion prompt. There's a website I used at my previous job called showmypc.com and it's a pretty useful and free shadowing service; if you can...

Briggs and Stratton NGK for hard starting?

NGK B2LMY non-resistor on Amazon looks like the price has certainly gone up since I last purchased these. These are the ones I put on my small engine. As for the non-resistor when the factory has resistor, I did not notice any unusual interference when I used the non-resistor. I guess I'd just...

Briggs and Stratton NGK for hard starting?

Yes! I have a 4HP YardMachines lawn mower that I was using Champion RJ19LM plugs on, I even went for the fancy upgraded 'easy-start' one once which didn't help, and when I bought an NGK regular plug, primed it properly (and relatively fresh gas), it always starts on the first pull now. Just as...

    Mich. Energy MXV4 belt separation! 205/55 R16 91H

It doesn't hurt to ask DT if they'd price match; I bet they'd even do the shopping for you. They do have a guarantee for prices, and their overall service is pretty tough to beat in my opinion. And with those tires being the 8th week of 2006, I don't believe Michelin warranties their tires once...
