I've received a lot of recommendations to put down pre-emergent in November and again in February to prevent springtime germination, in April.

I pulled five yard bags full of this stuff out of my yard this spring because I didn't put down pre-emergent. Won't make that mistake again.

I actually had a Fram synthetic on hand as well, so I just used that. The guys who have been doing work on this car put a Master Pro filter on it whenever they last changed the oil, so I didn't even attempt to use the gasket from that.
