    Chamois?

I use a Water Sprite as well. Takes a while to break-in, but once there, you'll never go back.

    Traction: A vs AA

Put some good 13" tires on 'em and they handle great. Most of them have el cheapo 155/80-12 "rim protectors" on them and came stock with 145 or 165 rim protectors.

Idea of how to get gas prices down.....

Holy Macaroni we have a winner! That's the size of it folks. Want to lower gas prices, we ALL have to substantially reduce our gas usage. Nothing else will work.

    Lets Talk Soda!

In Brazil at the moment. All of their sodas, Coke, Sprite, Orange, Grape... have real sugar in them. I am careful to only drink one per day, but I sure love them. I only drink Mexican Coke, Dublin Dr. Pepper, and a couple of really stout(like melt your nose hair) ginger beers, when I'm home.

Hybrid owner sues Honda over mileage claims

Just like every other car maker. EPA fuel economy gives you a way to measure different cars against each other. I guess we need dumb that one down and just give a letter category from least effecient to most effiecient. This would be like suing Road and Track because you can't run the...

    Traction: A vs AA

Oh, and living where you do, which is where I wish I lived, I'd go with the Sumitomo HTR 200, out of the choices above. I put a set on the Festiva, and I really, really liked them. So much so that I told the guy I sold it to that he would be crazy to put anything else on it(very few choices that...

    Traction: A vs AA

From the Tire Rack Tech FAQ So, to answer your question, I'd expect the AA rated All-Season to have better slow speed Wet stopping power. That is all that is reasonable to assume from the traction rating. The Summer tire could have better or worse Dry stopping power. I would expect the...

    First Fill for B&S 120600

How was the drive system on it? I've not used a self-propelled in decades, so I figure I'll adapt whatever it is, but I've heard some say they hate it.

Best dino oil for 10K OCI on hard-driving Miata?

You might try one of the more respected dinos here, combined with Lube Control, but do a UOA at 5k. I'd do that no matter what if pushing to 10k, but I'd put it off to 7500 with a synthetic.

    60k on Bridgestone Potenza's

Russell, you might consider the Kumho ASX. Gets pretty good reviews in the UHP class. The Pzero-Nero reviews a bit better, but is not available in your size.

Do you consider a Sportster to be a "chick" bike..

I've known a few guys who've owned them, and I came close to buying one myself. After taking a long ride on a '06 ElectraGlide, I decided that I simply don't like Harley engines, so I don't plan on buying one now. Pretty simple which bikes are chick bikes. They are the ones with chicks on them...

Pleasantly surprised w/some new economy cars...

Most of the fuss and hullaballo regarding the Mazda3 has to do with the steering, suspension, and engine. It is a fun car to drive in an age of appliances. I found the Focus ST to be even more fun, being lighter, torquier, and more responsive, but it does have an even cheaper feel to it. The...

Thinking of buying a a ____ Quantum? What gives?

I remember an article in Popular Mechanics from the '80s about plastic engine parts. At the time, you'd of thought that, by now, the entire engine would be plastic. I'd think that if the plastic camshaft was a problem, it would be pretty well known...

Pleasantly surprised w/some new economy cars...

Today's "economy" car's don't strike me as small. I cut my driving teeth in a '73 Corolla, back when they were small. My last car was a Miata. Just noticed Bob's comment on the fuel economy. I can promise you I would not get anywhere near 27 MPG in the Grand Marquis. Like I said, "I drive it...
