Rats ... experienced the 5w-20 jinx again today.
First when I really wanted to try PP I couldn't find it in 5w-20 ... today I go to Wally World to get GTX "anti sludge" and they have the new formula in everything but 5w-20.
Trying to see if my current generation was designed with 5w-20 in mind or was it caught up in the "administrative decision" to use 5w-20.
(read in between the line) I'm trying to justify switching to 5w-30 in New Orleans summers and traffic jams.
and many post state that they've accomplished this kind of mileage with "minimal" oil changes, e.g. Super Tech dino and Fram filters, or QS and ST filters @4-5k OCI's?
As of right now I fully intend to switch to GTX. If Mannix posted misinformation, I'll still be using oil that exceeded Ford's 930a standard.
If Mannix is correct it'll just be the cherry on the cake.
I was planning on purchasing the hatchback but couldn't wait after my Corolla got totaled.
From what I read ... they're not getting the real world mpg that the ECHO did.
Thanks Al. With 8167 post I think your opinion is valid.
I drive fairly hard, e.g. 95% city mileage, but only drive 5-6 k miles a year, so I'm leaning towards 6 mo OCI's.
It doesn't seem realistic that a major co. like Pennzoil wouldn't go through the testing sequence.
Why would they intentionally exclude themselves from the market of all Chrysler products?
