    check your dryer duct periodically!

Just put your hand on the metal flashing every month or so. If the pipe starts to get cooler, you know it's plugging up and losing flow (or a heater element died). At the same time the top of your dryer will be getting hotter since it's not able to remove as much heat. Dryer top should be cool...

    Well question

Looks exactly like my surface well cap, dug out back in 1960. Over time that concrete gets attacked by the weather and slowly crumbles. My cylinder is a little taller though, about 18 inches off the ground. That cover weights a lot. I slide mine to expose the interior. Mine is about 18 ft deep...

would you add an additional transmission cooler?

190F is probably fine. Would be an issue if you were 30-60 deg hotter. Even if it gets hotter, you can always change the fluid more often since the break down will be faster at higher temps. You're lucky. My Ford AX4N just pulls around its own weight in a 2001 Lincoln with FWD and I'd love to...

    Marvel Mystery Oil

Works in my lawn mowers. No longer have any issues with cheap carbs fouling up. For that reason alone worth having. Toss a few ounces in my old car's gas tank every month or so.

    To winterize or not?

Last couple years I changed to fully draining the system by letting the mower run out of fuel. I do add MMO and Techron all the time to keep the system clean from deposits and parts all lubricated. Next season, starts on first pull....using 6 month old gas to boot. This current mower has been...

    Garlic

Strong anti-oxidant and inflammation fighter. Blood pressure reducer as well. Since I've been eating 2 cloves a day for the past 11 yrs....I haven't been sick. Nothing wrong with daily garlic to keep what ails you at bay. The addition of onions brings out additional beneficial properties of the...

Cheapest route to a high performance car?

Best bang for the buck are probably the 4th gen LS1 Camaro's and Firebirds....1998-2002....basically 350 hp from the factory....same engine as the Vettes of that same time. Tweak them a bit, upgrade suspension and you have a 400 hp beast similar to the GMMG cars of that era. Many nice ones out...

    Does gas get "stale"?

Used some 87 octane pump gas I bought in October to fire up my push lawn mower last week. That's about 6 months. Fired up rapidly on the first pull. I didn't expect it to be that fast.

Keto diet - protein, carb, fat ratios question

A more natural and reasonable ratio would be 15-25% protein, 30-40% fat, 40-60% carbs. The bottom line is to eat high quality fats and carbs. It's hard to gain weight if you do that. You will struggle to get in 2000-2500 calories a day doing so on 3 meals and 2 snacks. Been there done that...

    Oil Change

You can go multiples of 1 year depending on your vehicle usage and type of oil. Most around here will change at least every year since most will have high enough mileage or short trip vehicles. You'll never get a car mfg to state you can go beyond 1 yr because it applies to so few vehicles...

Is replacing low time oil filters yearly a waste of money?

I'm doing 3K-4K mile OCI's with synthetic fluids and Fram Ultra filter. 3 oil changes per filter or 10K-12K on filter. That's about an annual filter change.

    Transmission Problem

I'd add remove some fluid and put a bottle of Lubeguard red in there. What's to lose? If the fluid looks dark and dirty, change as much as you can as the viscosity will be quite low. Is the right fluid in there to begin with?

    Historical Gasoline Prices

The price peak of oil was actually $149/bbl back in July 2008. That's back when bankers and hedge funds were buying oil tankers full of oil and parking them on speculation. The banking crisis in Aug-Oct 2008 brought that to an end fast as oil plummeted Oil and commodities in general last...

    RIP Kenny

His 2 early big hits in the 1960's that brought him to fame. Ruby 1969 and "Condition" 1967. Ruby What condition my condition was in Condition studio version Wrecking Crew probably backed Kenny on "Condition."

Is oil a good investment now?

The commodity sector (which includes oil) seems to be headed to new 10-15 year lows. Oil has already fallen under the 2008 low as has platinum. I think it will be tough sledding for copper, oil, and the basic materials sector in general. I think oil is headed back to $22 and possibly $15/barrel...

Feel good story(I do) about Profiteers

Make your own hand sanitizers for a lot less. Isopropyl alcohol Hydrogen peroxide Aloe or glycerin or even droplets of liquid soap tissues/paper towels/cotton swabs/etc. Make your own mixture and carry in bottles or small sandwich bags. Supplies of the above ingredients are still out there.
