    More strangers showing up

I feel you. I'll go and watch the footage of my security cameras about once a week. There's traffic that comes through my neighborhood at all hours of the night. I live almost at the cul-de-sac on of a dead end street. I'm surprised exactly how many vehicles come through in the dead of the...

Is All New Furniture Junk Anymore ?

Definitely had our share of poorly made furniture. The last living room set I bought, I decided to go with a recliner, couch, and love seat that reclined on both ends. There is more steel in the framing for the reclining mechanisms and seems to add more durability to the frame. Going on 4 years...

    Any Members With Classic/Muscle Cars?

Those are actually Competition Engineering Slide-A-Links. I chose those over the CalTracs for that very reason. I run these "unloaded" on the street and they allow for full suspension travel. The downfall is that you can't run a factory style rear sway bar with them. So I got creative and cut...

    Any Members With Classic/Muscle Cars?

Yeah, mine was a daily driver when I got it. I was rough on it...going through transmissions like they were free. I've always had more than one vehicle since I was 18 or 19, so the last transmission I tore up, I didn't have the money to fix it right away so it sat because I had another vehicle...

    Any Members With Classic/Muscle Cars?

I searched through a good bit of archives here and didn't see this mentioned very much at all. Anybody here have some classic muscle in the stable? I have a 1979 Z28 that I've had for 27 years...it was my 1st car that I got when I turned 16 and got my license. Finished a 10 year restoration a...

    Lightweight sound deadening insulation.

I used Noico and Kilmat in the floors of my Camaro when I restored it. They are both very similar in material and may even be the same product with different labels. 36 sq ft weighs right at 27.6lbs....that was a near perfect coverage for my 1979 Camaro for the entire floor. The product is...

    cheaper car insurance?

Sometimes it definitely pays to shop around for rates. I deal with a local agency who can write policies for several different insurers. Every so often, I'll have him run my info through all of them to make sure I'm getting the best value. Often times, he does it all on his own. I also run my...

LT vs P tires and durability

Ummm...I never said it doesn't "affect the ride". I clearly said I've never experienced LESS (worse) ride quality. I used to work in a shop where we installed lift kits and larger wheel/tire packages on trucks of all makes, models and sizes. Nearly all of those customers said their ride quality...

LT vs P tires and durability

I get significantly more tread life from a LT 10-ply vs any other I've ever tried on my ½ ton truck. I've never noticed less ride quality on 10-ply tires either....and I've never had one go flat.

Am i the only one really disliking SUVs?

What I find interesting is how some people can interpret a person's personality based on their choice of vehicle. I have a 4x4 truck, a mid-size SUV, a sedan, and a coupe. I think I like driving the SUV more than the others based on it being easiest to enter/exit. The ride quality is great. The...

Met the absolute biggest jerk I have ever encountered tonight.

If that's the biggest jerk you've ever encountered, then consider yourself pretty lucky. I can assure you that he was boy scout compared to some others out there.

Autolite xp iridium enhanced vs acdelco iridium soark plugs

Put AC Delco iridium plugs in my '02 Silverado when it rolled over 100K miles. Put another set in it just a few months ago when it rolled over 200K miles. I'll put another set in it again in 10 years when I hit 300K miles. The AC plugs meet the specifications for GM, are a good price, are...

Autolite xp iridium enhanced vs acdelco iridium soark plugs

No...NGK are ONE of GM's suppliers and obviously got an award for their service, but they are not the only Delco plug manufacturer. I have a close friend who is high on the food chain at Federal Mogul and says they also produce spark plugs for General Motors, Ford, Chrysler as well as other...

What Did You Get For Christmas?

Wife surprised me with a 28" Blackstone griddle. I love cooking on a grill and I am very good at it, so this griddle will be a new experience which I plan on mastering too.

    Vehicle Manufacturers Tire Pressure Recommendation

Negative. I now have 40K miles on these tires and have run 35psi in them from the beginning. They wear as even as anybody could ever ask for, they don't have heat rings associated with too low pressures and they ride exceptionally well for 10 ply tires. I've rotated them once. I just hauled...

    Vehicle Manufacturers Tire Pressure Recommendation

Absolutely. I speak from years of experience. A lot of shops that use inflators with pressure gauges rarely check them for accuracy or replace them as needed. The employees will drop/throw them around and get them out of whack. As long as the gauge moved, they trusted the accuracy. I was...

    Vehicle Manufacturers Tire Pressure Recommendation

2002 Silverado 1500 4x4. I run "E" rated (10-ply) tires a couple sizes up from OE. Last time I bought tires, I got them online and had Tires Plus mount/balance them. 1st thing I noticed when I left was the truck was "wandering" all over the road. It would literally swap lanes unexpectedly. Got...
