"Crunchy" feel returning the steering wheel

Upper strut mounts makes sense. There's a metallic knock when taking off from a stop, when the front end lifts up. PS wasn't low enough to pull air in the system.

"Crunchy" feel returning the steering wheel

55k. Reliability of it so far seems pretty inferior. Also need an ac service already. The fluid hasn't been changed until I added the Pentosin, but it's listed as compatible.

"Crunchy" feel returning the steering wheel

2017 Nissan Pathfinder 4wd. About 800 miles ago I noticed my power steering fluid was low. I added Pentosin CHF-11S because interestingly, Renault makes the steering system. Renault itself uses the same Pentosin but recently, when cornering at higher speeds and returning the wheel back to the...

    230k miles on timing belt?

I would definitely not skimp on Subaru timing belt maintenance! I hadn't thought of the pulleys or waterpump going out. At this point, they could be more likely to fail than the belt itself.

    230k miles on timing belt?

Of course I don't hope for disaster. But I know if there's any bigger issues, it'll be put up for sale. I have a habit of parting out or rebuilding damaged cars. I don't think one more would hurt! For whatever reason, the 1st gen Highlander and 2nd gen Rav4's don't typically rust out, so the...

Upper Middle Class Income in your area?

100k+ I'd say. Most people around here *based on general knowledge of jobs/careers available and general properties* are in the 60k area. But if you want a nice house, plan on a bare minimum of 375k for no yard and big house, or no house and medium yard.

    230k miles on timing belt?

Doesn't matter to me as I've wanted to buy it in any condition for years anyways, and I know I'll get a smoking deal if it breaks 😃 I've offered to look at it a few times over the years.

    230k miles on timing belt?

In laws 2004 Highlander with the 3.3 just rolled 230k on the original timing belt. Maintenance throughout it's life has been negligible at best. When I asked about the timing belt, the response was "What's that?" What do you suppose it looks like after 17 years of 4 seasons and spirited driving?

CRAZY HEAT is Coming to the Northwest

How's the humidity? It's 84 here all night but 100% humidity. Next 3 days: 100, 102, 98 and it's never dry here so it'll be muggy too. My car windows are fogged/wet, all paper/cardboard in the garage is damp. Nasty, nasty weather 🤢 I remember in 2004 it hit 96 which was basically unheard of at...

Replacing ignition coils, what's this nut?

I believe it is a bad pcm, I replaced the whole harness with a new one. That's the only thing out of the p0201 I haven't replaced yet.

Replacing ignition coils, what's this nut?

New injectors, wiring harness, coils. Cleaned ground and all connectors. Same issue. Injector circuit open, Cyl 1. And now a Cyl 1 misfire. Not sure what to do now but I might as well throw a new pcm at it at this point.

Replacing ignition coils, what's this nut?

Too late lol, had to break apart the "sleeve" it was stuck in position and brittle. I was able to pull the connector off. I got a good deal on new injectors and a NOS harness. I'll do the harness and injectors since everything is off anyway. If no luck I'll have someone check out the pcm. But...

Replacing ignition coils, what's this nut?

Seems to be the harness. However I can't unplug the main connector. Not sure how it's supposed to be removed, there's no tabs or anything. It's in a large gray sleeve plug.

Replacing ignition coils, what's this nut?

Id appreciate that! I just checked injector 1's connector with a pen light and got voltage on one of two prongs which I assume is normal. Interestingly though, cylinder 3 next to it I could not get the light to come on no matter how much I prodded the connector.

Will check pcm wiring as well with a dvom. Thanks!
