Repainted the sun bleached body side moldings on the wife's car. Started on the driver's side too. I had painted them at least 6 years ago. This color and finish is a better match than before. The color on the bumpers was always a little different. I'll hit them this time too.
It may be listing it as R12 because of the service port on low pressure side.
GM started switching to R134a hose during the 1984 model year. The hoses that have "Goodyear Galaxy" on them were the improved hoses and fittings.
Your Olds has a Quadrajet? I thought they were all the old Rochester 4 barrel until '66?
EDIT: I see now I think you meant the old Rochester 4 barrel. My misunderstanding.
This has me wondering if our 2020 Forte is included in the coil issue too. I've not had the engine cover off yet, though I changed the oil in the IVT at 43K.
Found the passenger's side low beam is easier too!
As an owner of a 1995 Ford F53 w/460 gas engine, I'd like to point out the 460 Big Block used a flat tappet cam until the end of production (1997). Ford's new "Godzilla" engine is modern (though I've read it has an appetite for camshaft and lifters for some odd reason).
I had found out about the difference a while ago, but wasn't aware of a different lube spec. I had saved pics to compare to my 2019 Yukon, as I have no idea which it has. I intend to change the gear oil at 30K.
The clutches being worn out on the A6 compressor were not uncommon in this era. The CCOT system cycles a compressor clutch that was (primarily) designed for contant run with refrigerant control.
Love the car!
My '78 C20, Scottsdale. I've had it since '98. It's a 292 L6, 400 Hydramatic, factory air, PS and heavy duty power brakes (same as 1 ton, but with vacuum boost instead of the hydroboost.
Saturn's are know for blowing a thermal fuse in the clutch that effectively makes it open (electrically). Common enough it seems like a design issue.
Early Saturn's used Zexel compressors. I don't know if that changed during the S series, but I don't believe they ever had GM/Harrison compressors.
I've had the same bottle of original Nylog and haven't seen any do that (R12 & R134a systems). I haven't bothered with the centering tubes either.
I prefer the old style compressor sealing o-rings that GM used. No chart required to see what color/thickness to use.
If a car sits out overnight, the windows will be covered with dew every morning for months in Florida. It evaporates off the outside with the heat from the defogger, just like frost.
