My briggs and stratton elite series generator 5500 calls for straight 30 weight oil, 11hp manual start motor. Would never be able to start it in cold weather with straight 30 weight oil...I have been using Mobil Super 5w-30 that I found on clearance last year.

Unfortunately the manufacture date is on the side of the filter can…so in the retail store would need to break the seal on the box in order to check it. Went though this before when Honda switched there filter manufacturer from Filtec A01 to Fram A02…although I did prefer the A01 the world did...
