Tapping/knocking sound immediately after oil change. Rod knock, piston slap, valve train ticking, or else?

@TumblrDucks What vehicle is this? Year/Make/Model? What oil does it call for? Water under the bridge, but if it ran fine before the change, and made noise right after, why did you drive it? A 20 WT oil should not (I believe it should not).. cause noise like this immediately. It sounds...

    2002 Silverado 5.3L RWD Vibration

How much vibration are we talking? Enough to feel a slight buzz in the wheel, seat, or does the vehicle shake like a bad balance? Have you checked the tires for a seperation? What really comes to mind is, have you replaced the motor mounts? I had a bad LH mount which gave a visible rise to...

    Any tips/tricks for R&R a 6L80 to replace converter?

I bought it used with 85K, trans filter and fluid change was done around 60K. I exchanged about 6 quarts at 100-110K with Maxlife. I will be replacing the filter in the next few weeks. I was thinking on a small fall project with the converter, but mainly looking for options/opinions. No...

    Any tips/tricks for R&R a 6L80 to replace converter?

My 2012 Yukon XL 6.2 has 140K miles, no driveability issues. I do want to change out the OE converter for preventative maintenance. Mine is AWD which adds to the labor, but more concerned with the heft of the trans and the fact it will be a driveway job. How much clearance is needed to remove...

Upstream O2 sensors and fuel mileage

Contacted my dealer today, based on my VIN, the downstream sensor is 12609457. Edit to add: 213-3866 is the AC Delco part # for the GM 12583804 upstream sensor. 213-4229 is the AC Delco part # for the GM 12609457 downstream sensor. So looks like RA has a typo.

Upstream O2 sensors and fuel mileage

I'm not doubting you, but the reason I didn't buy it from RA was the description it gave stating it's the downstream. Last one in pic. I called 2 dealerships and gave them my VIN, both came back with 12583804 for the upstream. I do want to call again and see where this 213# falls.

Not good news - John Force

Exactly. JF didn't crash at Virginia due to lack of reflexes, his motor blew up and it was obvious he had no view of the track, who knows what else went wrong like the rear tires locking up since they are welded to the output at the end of the run. The guy can still keep a car pointed down the...

What tools are you using to remove stripped lug nuts?

This. Should be a safety hazard. When you are on the side of the road and your factory lug wrench doesn't fit your factory lugs, that's a serious issue. Two-piece lugs are GARBAGE. The manufacturers need to address this with one-piece.

Upstream O2 sensors and fuel mileage

That's what I was thinking when I bought the Denso's. However this is what I discovered during this maintenance.... The sensor on the right looks exactly like what I took out, and the OE 12583804 based on my VIN looks the same, and that's what the dealer would give me. The Denso on the left...

Upstream O2 sensors and fuel mileage

The 213-3866 is the downstream sensor, I need the upstreams.

Upstream O2 sensors and fuel mileage

Yes I did reset with the Tech 2. Not sure what GM part numbers will cross-reference, but mine are 12583804.

    Done with Blackstone

My first and last experience with them is when I sent in 3 samples, 1 VOA, 1 home brew for VOA, and a 2K mile sample of a home brew. They mixed up the results then when they sent the analysis, they said they were able to figure it out then the numbers were whacked again. I asked if I could...

That's exactly what I'm seeing with mine.

Upstream O2 sensors and fuel mileage

Can't say for sure, already tossed the packaging...I thought it was USA but not sure. I agree trims look good, but the sensor voltage average possibly could be slightly higher. Tips of sensor was different also, Delphi had 4 rows of holes up the tip, OE had about 3-5 holes right at the tip. OE...

Upstream O2 sensors and fuel mileage

I want to think this could be the cause in my slight loss in MPG, wanted to pick the brains here. 2012 Yukon XL 6.2, 140K miles, owned vehicle since it had 85K and basically zero issues in regards to driveability. Last 3 years we have taken trips to the beach, roughly 450 miles and I could...

Saudi Arabia ditches US dollar and will NOT renew the 50 year 'petro-dollar' agreement with the United States.

I don't think this will have an immediate effect, many factors involved. I don't like the possible "bait and switch" scenario with EV's. Tax $$ needs to come from somewhere.

Saudi Arabia ditches US dollar and will NOT renew the 50 year 'petro-dollar' agreement with the United States.

Yes, I agree. Remember around 2002-2004 when clean, cheap natural gas was the future...then those prices nearly tripled overnight? EV's are expensive, imagine when you're more dependent on a more easily regulated resource and then also factor in being taxed per mile. A very possible scenario.

2012 Yukon steering rack bushing play

2012 Yukon 1500, Original rack with 140K miles, have some play in the steering rack but unsure what is acceptable. This video was taken with one wheel off the ground, seems to have a good bit of play, don't see any cracking in the rubber. Can I just replace the bushings? Also, I just had this...

GM truck rear axle bearing allowable play

I agree, hopefully that's the error of the caliper. New bearings are Koyo from GM, OE seals also. All is back together, no leaks. Will give it some miles and see what happens.
