The Truth About Oil, Autozone Style

    Hunger Games

Same...never heard of the books until the movie. Anyways, went and saw the movie last night. I sorta chuckled at this thread, because every time Katnip grabbed a bow I payed more attention to her form then I did the actual scene :p... Apparently they brought in an Olympic archer to teach her...

The Truth About Oil, Autozone Style

The Autozone computer will clearly list the 15w-40 AND 5w-40 oils for that application. And people get all upset that modern autoparts workers rely on the computer too much...in all honesty, you don't want these guys giving you advice, as this above example clearly demonstrates. Also, if I was...

    20W50 oil OK in Prius?

It was established a long long time ago that engines are very robust items, capable of tolerating a wide range in oil quality and viscosity. I'd imagine a Prius would live a happy life running 5w-20 or 20w-50 in Australia. With all things considered, there is enough capacity in the cooling...

    Laptop temps too high?

ITB on a laptop? Brave man. Simple solution...don't run ITB! Unless you are testing stability with an overclock, there is absolutely no reason to run ITB on a laptop, or even a desktop. It doesn't reflect real world usage, even in the most extreme situations. Whatever temperatures you achieve...

Which Battery Is Better Auto-Zone Or Advance

My mistake, I meant DieHard. There were so many mentions of Duralast in this thread that when I went to type out DieHard, my brain insisted on spelling Duralast. Either way, I bought the battery from Sears, and that much I typed out correctly.

    f150 ecoboost oil options

I hear Crisco works well in these. Just don't use lard...it cokes in the turbos. In all seriousness, any name brand 5w-30 semi/full synthetic would work well in this application.

Which Battery Is Better Auto-Zone Or Advance

Buy from someone who is local to you and nationwide...because you never know when you're battery is going to [censored] out. Case in point, I bought a Duralast Gold from sears. When my alternator nuked itself, taking the battery with it, there was no Sears in site to carry out the exchange...I...

    Buying a new PC

Save money on the CPU and buy a small SSD to use as an OS install drive. This will make a much more pronounced impact on the overall day to day performance of your machine then any CPU upgrade. This is after all just a day to day machine, and for those uses even bottom tier CPU's are plenty fast.

    2007 F-350 6.0 Diesel

My brother in law bought a 2007 King Ranch with the 6.0 8 months ago....its been in the shop for 2 of the those months. Avoid that engine like the plague...unless you were the original owner who took excellent care of if, I just wouldn't trust the 6.0. My brother in laws truck has basically had...

    SLUDGEFEST 2012

I'm going to second the "leave it alone" option. At most, do a piston soak with MMO or another solvent, and that's it. Any harsh cleaning is likely to break loose a large chunks of debris which could clog up various passages. Just keep it full of inexpensive dino, and change the filter every 3k...

Peak Global or Zerex ? Miata

Peak Global. Though I don't doubt G-05's effectiveness, I do seriously dislike its cleanliness, at least in my application (silicate dropout). Peak Global appears to be an excellent long life multi-purpose coolant.

    SLUDGEFEST 2012

Sludged up a 2.0 Duratec? That takes some serious neglect...these engines are pretty easy on oil. PCV is behind the intake manifold...you may or may not be able to get at it without pulling the manifold. Depends on what parts you're willing to remove to clear the path. But in all seriousness...

Never liked the idea of a V6 stang, until this:

I'd be all over this like an addict in a poppy field if it were actually cheaper then a GT V8. But considering its got the Shelby name stamped on the interior, me thinks its going to cost significantly more. Equal money, and I go for the V8 every time. Make this substantially cheaper, and its...
