    How do you select tires?

I emphasize brand more than I should - but I also look at how they develop their tires, test them, design, make them, and everything else. It's not a healthy obsession but it sure as [censored] is fun!

    2019 VW Passat Wolfsburg Edition

Congrats on the terrific ride. A lot of your review rings true with what we've seen as my family has shifted to VW in the past year. Great mileage, comfortable, but you can drive these cars versus Toyota/Honda appliances that drive you.

Used car with Auto Braking for under $10k

Spot one. This system is a big reason we're both rolling in VWs now.

Used car with Auto Braking for under $10k

Best bet might be a 2017 Corolla at a rental dealer. I've seen them down close to 10 at this point. A Yaris is also an option. Barring Toyota keep an eye out for a Subaru Legacy with eyesight (2015) if lucky or a VW Jetta/Passat, although probably won't see 10K.

    Nokian Entyre 2.0

Yes. They are made in Russia and will shift to new US plant in 2020 I believe.

    Anyone buy/run used tires?

I think unless you're taking them off a new car or slightly used seasonal types, forget about it. Not worth the risk. Tires are one of the most important components of the automobile and one might argue the most important when it comes to your safety alongside the brakes. It is the only part...

    Nokian Entyre 2.0

Quick update. Almost 10K in on the Nokian eNTYRE 2.0s. Still a phenomenal ride. Have made a long east cost sojourn on them this summer and they were a pleasure on the highway. Been getting some rainy/windy weather the last couple days in Boston and never had a worry. Confident in their grip, and...

    Nokian WRG4

I hear good things about the Crossclimates but my WRG3s are past 35K and still solid. Only reason I might lose them soon is for a new car with WRG4s

What cars did your parents schlep you around in as a kid?

Brought home from the hospital in a 1984 Subaru GL wagon. Loved that car. Always has been a Subaru in the family since then. Spent time in the later years in a 1990ish Dodge Caravan, 1988 Dodge Caravan, 1987 Subaru DL wagon, 1988 Subaru Leone, 1999 Subaru Impreza.

AWD with Summers vs FWD with winters

The Nokian WRGs are perfect for Boston area driving as they are tremendous during winter months and fine the rest of the year. More so if you're not putting a ton of miles on a set. Otherwise I like the eNTYRE 2.0s thus far.

2009 Cooper Clubman- 2 year review

Thanks for the great review. We just picked up the VW JEtta but at some point we're going to upgrade the Rio and Mini is on the shortlist along with a Golf.

Why do cars like long commutes?

This is a great question. Let's toss in the inverse... Are there any cars better suited for short commutes? Perhaps electric?

    Is RockAuto open 24/7?

They are fast. I put new rotors and pads on the Rio. Ordered them on a Sunday and had them - Tuesday? Had been scheduled for delivery Thursday./

    Storing fruit together causes spoilage?

Correct. Keep fruits with peels/likely treated separate from other fruits whenever possible.

2004 Subaru Impreza 2.0L 4 Cylinder Motor Oil Recommendation?

I had an 88 GL and 99 Impreza and used Castrol at manual spec. I'm not sure if I'd do the same thing today but Castrol always seemed to hold up.
