Need To Replace AC Compressor - Should I replace Condensor As Well?

Funny you say this. I got a replacement AC clutch from an 05 truck in the junk yard (This did not work..separate post about this). But I noticed that donor vehicle had electric fans but the water pump still had the threaded nut for a conventional fan. The pump looked new, so I thought it was a...

    Variable Orifice Valve

I see the Yellow one on Amazon. The compatibility checker says it does not fit my 03 Suburban...although that may be because it was not the standard for that vehicle Yellow Orifice Tube RA has the original part listed by the dealer (1st design 13mm) which would be .512 1st Design 13mm Orifice...

Need To Replace AC Compressor - Should I replace Condensor As Well?

I need to replace my AC Compressor on my 2003 Suburban. I did not have a catostrophic failure, but the performance was poor in hot weather. I think partly because of a worn clutch. If $$$ is not as much of an issue as increasing performance, would it be wise to replace the original factory...

    Variable Orifice Valve

I am getting ready to order parts for an AC Fix on my 2003 Suburban. This is the dealer part for the orifice valve: OE Orifice Valve This is another on Rock Auto. Variable Orifice Valve It states: Features & Benefits Drop in replacement and upgrade to the standard Fixed Orifice Tube (FOT) -...

Need Some HVAC Advice 2003 Suburban

Finally got around to checking out the ac clutch. Mine would only stay engaged for a little while and then cut out, and it is getting hot now, so had to be done. I was at a junk yard and found one easily accessible and in decent condition, so I removed it and learned the process. Was relatively...

Headliner Replacement - Dual Overhead AC Controls vs. Original Single Controls Compatability

I need to get a replacement headliner (the main fiberglass shell part) for my 2003 Suburban. I currently have a long overhead DVD player for the rear row seats. It is never used and never will be used. All it currently does is support the headliner. The front has overhead lights and rear AC...

Funny you ask. Yesterday was actually a cooler day than it has been here in FLA. It was probably close to 70-75.

Head Unit Recommendations For 2003 Suburban

I don't mind spending more $$$ for a good harness. Can you dumb this down for me a little? I don't know if it is supported by idatalink maestro. I get the 2G CDMA thing. I went through that with my Note 9 phone. Are you suggesting that if I try to retain on-star, it will be a waste of time and...

XM Antenna and GPS Tracking Questions

Sounds like you have done this before. Would the signal from the factory antenna be sufficient with the filter you recommended? I assume I still would need the separate XM Receiver SXV300V1, which is an SMP input, I believe. I really don't want to put another antenna on my roof and bring in...

XM Antenna and GPS Tracking Questions

Just did some more wire tracing. I found a separate harness that goes to a different antenna and then to the OnStar box, along with a mic wire from the overhead console, so On-Star is resolved. I also recall, I have 2 XM sources on my factory radio, so I imagine my 2 wires are part of a dual...

XM Antenna and GPS Tracking Questions

As I am disassembling the interior of my 03 Suburban, I found this device behind the a pillar trim. It was wired into my OBD connector port harness From my research, I gather this is a GPS Tracking device, most likely put in when I bought the car from a buy here pay here lot. My question is...

How should I deal with this rust on the underside of my older F-150

For any intact areas that can be reached, this is the only product I have found that is holding up on several rust repair projects I have done. This Eastwood Rust Encapsulator Platinum seems to do a great job and hold up well. I have used the rust reformer and the Ospho, neither seems to work...

    HVAC Gasketing Material Recommendation

Dash is apart on the '03 Suburban to do some actuator replacements. I am debating on redoing the gasket seals while it is apart. Anyone have recommendation to recondition these seals? Also, all the foam tape that wraps the wires is deteriorated. I imagine these are for preventing vibration? Any...

Need Some HVAC Advice 2003 Suburban

You mentioned not to bother with a new clutch on an old compressor. Is there a mechanical reason, or is this a cost reason, since the compressor is already old? I have still yet to remove a shim to tighten the tolerance to see if that helps. One previous post in another topic someone suggested...

Need Some HVAC Advice 2003 Suburban

The new actuator solved my intake air recirc door and the communication is back between the climate control unit and that actuator. Did not need a new climate control module. It's amazing how much colder the air is when it recirculates and does not blend in the outside air. Replacing the 2nd...

Need Some HVAC Advice 2003 Suburban

Does anyone know what I should be looking for at the actuator pins for power on the air intake door actuator? My test light illuminates on 1 pin only, even when I press the recirc button on the controls. This might help me determine if I have a wiring problem or a control problem...unless the...

Need Some HVAC Advice 2003 Suburban

Took the dash apart today to get access to the actuators. The air intake actuator and the heater blend actuator that are both in hard to reach places in the dash are now accessible. Both actuators seem to be significantly out of range in one direction. I think this is part of the problem with my...

Need Some HVAC Advice 2003 Suburban

When measuring gap, should the gap be measured with the max amount it takes to force the feeler gauge into the gap with friction, or should it be measured so the gauge slides freely with only a little friction. The differential I am coming up with is 9 thousandths between the 2 different methods.

Need Some HVAC Advice 2003 Suburban

I agree with this, but I also feel like I am wasting money, because each time I take it for a 150.00 service, they put gauges on it, vacuum it, fill it and still no change in the intermittent issues. They say that is as good as it can get with all the stuff I keep inside (It is my work vehicle)...
