Overhead a woman telling another woman her dream job is a Stay At Home Mom

That’s been my wife’s job, plus she homeschooled all 4 of them. She tried going into the work force after our kids left the nest, but HATED it, so we adopted 3 more. Long story, but it’s the gift she was born with and she is good at it. I’m fortunate to have been blessed with a career path...

    Despise Chrysler Vehicles?

I like our van, I just hate the electrical gremlins and rust. If not for Fluid Film, my van would be rusty. Competitor vans rust much less, and you wouldn’t fear buying a Honda or Toyota with 100k miles. I’d never buy a Chrysler with 100k miles As a Jeep Wrangler fan, I’m a glutton for...

Things you have to do to new cars that you didn't have to do with old cars.

Have to shut off the electric closing doors on the minivan in the summer because they won’t shut, yet the actuator keeps running, in the summer when it’s hot. I second the needing a computer to change the brakes comment. Having to change proximity sensors for blind spot monitoring (thanks...

    2010 Venza ATF change

I used Toyota fluid as well in my 09 Camry I bought with 224k and saw no record of a fluid change. The fluid was brown, so I didn’t chance a non factory oil. The car now has 244k miles and no issues.

    Rockauto deals

I’m done with RA. I ordered a brake rotor and pad kit from them and it came with rotors that did not fit. I had triple checked USA built EX sedan, but it had the wrong rotor. Oriellys saved the day and I had to pay to return the RA parts. It’s not the first time either. I used to order from...

    1999 Camry 2.2L (5S-FE) oil leaks

Second this. The gasket doesn’t like to stay in the groove. There is also a plastic circle on the driver side in the head/valve cover that can leak.

Cop in middle of road for speed trap?

There was one this morning at 5:45 here in Ames, IA, sitting on the shoulder. He had to drive up a curve, into the grass, and was sitting with lights off on a curve. It's a 35 and I had the cruise set at 37 (4 lane). That car won't get it, but it seemed like an odd spot to me.

Walgreens to shut 1,200 stores as CEO Wentworth seeks turnaround

My son is in Pharmacy school and says Walgreens is a terrible, terrible company that mistreats it's Pharmacists. It's second to CVS.... Our Walgreens is busy and always seemed like a good place, but the pharmacy staff has completely changed in the past 2 years. We do mail order now, or...

    My Jiffy Lube Sludge Story...

As a guy who managed a company fleet, I can tell you that salespeople are some of the worst, and will happily go 20k miles + because they just don't have time to get an oil change!! One 2.7 Ecoboost in an F150 was smoking badly when we finally fired that sales person. I personally drove it for...

Test drove a Jeep with rotten egg smell

I bought a Camry a few years ago that I was allowed to take home and do my own in depth pre-purchase inspection. I knew the salesman, so that helped. This Jeep was 1.5 hours away in Waterloo, IA and I am not in a hurry to buy, so paying for an inspection isn’t on my list of things to do...

Test drove a Jeep with rotten egg smell

It was definitely rotten milk, not egg. Flood car was my thought too.

Test drove a Jeep with rotten egg smell

I’m shopping for a pre-owned Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. Having finally found one worth actually driving after looking it over, I was almost through the test drive when I started to smell a rotten milk smell. I had been driving with the window down to listen for noises, and rolled it up for the...

Putting a Dog to Rest Forever, our journey will come to a close this month

Thanks for the full explaination. Our Lucy has started coughing now at night. She still greets me when I come home, but now just walks up and stands there. She also follows me around the house all the time, which is new. I sense she needs my comfort, the same way she comforted me whenever I was...

Putting a Dog to Rest Forever, our journey will come to a close this month

So sorry for your loss. We are watching our dog in her last weeks/months. She has congestive heart failure occurring, though she is doing OK. There have been some days where I have held her and told my wife I need to take her in to put her down, but she bounces up later in the day and seems...

    Nascar

A couple years before Dale Sr. Died, I quit NASCAR and started watching a European series on the SPEED network that was off the lot cars with cages and they raced road courses. It was a hoot to watch. That and WRC. I don’t even watch the Daytona 500 anymore, and that was a half to for years.

Used Car transmission Flush or drain and fill?

I did a spill and fill with a filter change on my Camry at 235k mikes not knowing the history. The fluid had a brown tint to it, so I was very nervous. There were no shifting issues, so part of me was thinking if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. I did it anyway with no issues and improved...
