I'm about to buy 1 thing from RockAuto for $100.

Are there any little parts or good deals you like to buy from Rock Auto? Like oil, filters, drain plug washers, windshield wipers, whatever, that I should add to my cart while I'm paying for shipping?

Place your item ($100) in your cart. Then, go to the oil filters, wipers, etc. that you want, and select those with the little "truck" symbol next to the item. That means these small items will ship from same warehouse that the item in your cart ships from, so won't raise shipping price much, if it all.

Also, don't forget the ROCKAUTO discount code. Posted in the deals forum.

This is what I do to get small things as mentioned. You can get good deals on cabin air filters, etc.

I usually look at wipers. Add and see if shipping increases. Note a single blade may push shipping a few bucks-- even from the same warehouse-- but additional blades hold steady.

Sometimes you can add gallons of coolant with little additional shipping penalty, and some of their prices are competitive, esp on, say, Asian blue

Need any brake hoses?

RA does sometimes put out discounted parts. The tab will appear when a vehicle is selected.
Enter other family members' vehicles for their needs. Check for the truck icon (as mentioned above) and discounted / discontinued parts.
Wee light bulbs?
Exhaust hangers?

FYI: The RA discount code goes in the box next to "How did you hear about us?". It's 16 to 18 numerals long.
A member just posted this one: 281667367250139887. He said it's good through 15 Nov.

It depends on what else you need.

As others have said, look for the truck symbol to identify parts that ship from the same warehouse.

It's not that it's fake. People order brand X timing kit and get generic white box chiensium
This explains it better:

The "Private Label Package" usually means a house brand, and the part numbers often match the brand name's part numbers, even when not made by that company. Rock Auto has to list is somehow.

And also, there is no guarantee that something in an actual Cloyes box is any better or even any different :sneaky:

The parts in that video shipped from Factory Motor Parts, which might use FVP as its house brand.

He KNEW that it was a "private label package" when he ordered it!

FWIW, they also sell actual GM OE timing chain kits, for both the DI and non-DI V6. I have NEVER seen an OE kit from ANY mfr, and that includes timing belt kits where the belt actually has to be replaced at intervals. No OEM Toyota timing belt kits, no OEM Honda timing belt kits, etc.

Ah, thank you for the explanation.

Yes, Much better to support the wall- street owned “local” store than the family owned Rock Auto. / sarc
I prefer locally owned stores...but of course the Parts Authorities are buying all of 'em up. We had one here, now it's a Napa (company owned store).

I haven't set foot in an AutoZone for 15 years. I'll use O-reilly on occasion, but it's rare...probably been in there 10 times in that last 15 years. Most of my business goes to dealers or direct to suppliers (I've been in the business a lot of years) that I have relationships with. That said, my fleet is mostly toyotas so all I really need is oil and filters lol.

I’m done with RA. I ordered a brake rotor and pad kit from them and it came with rotors that did not fit. I had triple checked USA built EX sedan, but it had the wrong rotor. Oriellys saved the day and I had to pay to return the RA parts.

It’s not the first time either. I used to order from them a ton, but am now shopping locally.

Some RA wipers are "stale" eg the rubber is starting to get dry and inflexible. I still buy them, still feel they're a good value, but I sometimes get less time out of their use than one would expect.

Light bulbs, oil filters, belts, consumables should be checked for that little brown box truck symbol.

If your work will let you deliver to the office, price shipping to their address... can often save a few bucks.

How does the law work in that area?

Who's gonna spend the time/money to get a lawyer involved for a $100? Nobody (with a brain).

O'reilly is growing on me. They have a really good distribution program. I can order stuff online with them and get just about anything (even boat parts sometimes) delivered to the local store within 2 hours. Even Parts Authority / IMC can't touch that, and I've got 6 of their locations within 50 miles of me.
