I dunno i am born and bred in NC too. So FRAM made it easier for me to use the local option by moving away from the really sturdy full synthetic media. I'm not married to any filter though so we'll see how these new FRAMs turn out as I'm sure we'll have some posted here.

Boss more efficient than OEM so probably plenty good enough. Trust FRAM's new route if you want. We are all still free to make some choices in this country.

If supertech is good for 10k i bet this could go 10k in right applications. They just cant have this competing with Mobil 1 is my guess.

It is. Skid plate in the way unless you completetly take it off each time. Even if you jack it up has been my experience. On my wife's i use a 20k rated filter and change it every other time.

Hard to find when the 20k Boss started but the places that sell them online have descriptions as 20k but the product pics still have 15k on the boxes so seems not long ago? Yeah we have a 4runner with a not so fun oil filter location that i like to go 20k on the filter. The fram ultra actually looked a bit wavy and only has/had plastic and not metal mesh backing anyway. Thinking of giving the boss a shot next time.

I am wondering if it was the 15k OCI Boss filter or the updated to 20k OCI Boss filter in the testing. Saw Purolator's website says better than 99% at 25 microns for the 20k version. Been using ultras but the fixing something that wasn't broken update to the media has me annoyed like others.
