Fram Ultra Horde

I’ve still seen OG XG5s,XG8As, and XG2s available, but the newer ones like the XG7317, XG10060, & XG10575 seem to be gone.
Yeah the smaller ones seem to be all the new style, I started looking around a week after the first post of the new ultra and the xg12060, xg3506 and xg10060 were all the new style already at that point. Still like you said the xg5, xg8a, and xg2 are all still old inventory.

I kind of don't want to support FRAM anymore. They aren't the company that made these awesome filters anymore anyways. I dont trust the new leadership with the cheapening tactics they are using. Y'all can have the last of these which is your choice.

I'll still be using 5-6 new fram filters a year on my parents vehicles, if I see any problems with quality control I will definitely post about it on here.

I have a stash of about 20 wire-backed XG2s for my Ford 7.3L gas truck.

The truck is brand new, once I hit the 20k mile mark I’ll extend my filters from 5k to 10k. Plan on running Kendall GT-1 Max 5w30 for its entire life, I should have enough filters to last my entire ownership period.

I also set up a recurring Amazon delivery of a couple additional XG2 filters every three months. There are 3 other Ford vehicles in the family that use the same filter. Once the XG2s I receive from Amazon are no longer wire-backed I’ll discontinue the XG2 orders and switch to the TG2.

Since the windshield wiper company aquired the Fram brand name it has gone down hill. Were that not the case, people would not be scurrying around to buy up the scant remaining stock of old product that was made before the new corporate owners took over.

Nice stash, I can't wait until more data comes in on the new frams.. That being said I was able to snag a couple original versions myself.. Wish they left.it alone!

WAIT, are you SURE it is the new leadership? FRAM is exclusively sold at Wal-Mart, and we all know they pressure you to lower your prices! FRAM may not have a choice, they are cheapening because of Wally World.

I would like to see FRAM at NAPA, at anywhere else but Walmart.

First, FRAM is not a Walmart exclusive and second, Walmart doesn’t dictate the quality or price of the goods on their shelves (besides their store brands and a few other exceptions). For the most part, Walmart itself doesn’t own the goods in their stores (again, with exceptions), instead they merely provide distribution, stores, shelf space, and other logistics services for a cost to companies wishing to sell their wares. This is why they won the big box retail wars of the 1990s.

They sell Ultras other places, at Meijer (where the price has steadily ratcheted upward from $7.99 to $10.99!), and at AAP as the Titanium. With the design change and price increases, they're firmly in Royal Purple & approaching Amsoil territory-for a lesser design than either of those. It'll be interesting to see if the Ultra is even made in a year or two, or replaced with some other lesser "premium" filter.

I mean anytime a company (Fram) is bought out by another some new decision makers come in to play even if some of the past folks are retained. It is clear that material costs are being reduced by the new design. Maybe it filters the same and maybe not. It's the principal that something not broken is being changed and it is pretty obvious why. Business is business but i don't have to consume a cheaper product for same cost.

When I can get a Royal Purple for about the same price as the re-designed Ultra I'll be going purple.
