    23 Equinox AWD, 1.5 liter, Mobil1 0W-30 AFE, 5,400 miles

I still have a supply of 0W20 D1G3 oil I bought for our Equinox so no change soon but I was thinking I may just consolidate and run 5W30 in it after the 20wt is gone. Our 1.4L in the Cruze called for 5W30 and it was a very similar engine to the 1.5 Your viscosity was on the low end of the range...

    Steve Magnate selling everything

I think most people like him are freelance contractors, he may have just had a catastrophic plan that only covered a small portion, either way its sad all the way around. I hope to see him back.

GM 2020 Silverado HD 6.6 Gas - Bad Transmission

I really think the 6.6 was modeled after the 6.0 with a few tweaks. why mess with success. One of the best parts is no AFM or whatever they call it. I have about 7k on mine and I was going to grab a sample when I changed the oil last time but I messed up and left the bottle on the workbench...

GM 2020 Silverado HD 6.6 Gas - Bad Transmission

We had several 6.0 trucks at work. Having driven and worked on them I can say the 6.6 is hands down a better engine in terms of power and economy. As far as longevity goes the 6.0 has a proven track record and will take some neglect. The 6.6 hopefully will be as good.

    Working on roof question

Typically once a jack is removed the nail is driven all the way down and a dab of tar should be placed over the nail head and the shingle laid back down. A good contractor will place his nails for the jack in a position on the shingle that isnt near a joint.

Why do auto parts stores not carry bolts needed for cars

I worked at an industrial supply house in the late70's to early 80's that specialized in fasteners. Even back then many automotive fasteners were "specials" in that they were designed and manufactured specifically for an auto makers use. When the OEM's use 500,000 of a bolt, screw, washer, etc...

Comparing Champ filters to AC Delco (hint, theyre the same)

I have a pretty good stash of these filters but I couldnt bring myself to sacrifice 2 filters to find out. I wasnt raised that way ;)

    Grease for u-joints?

You want an NLGI #2 Lithium EP grease, available everywhere and cost effective. No need in overthinking it. I use Mystic JT6 or Lucas Red N Tacky in all my stuff, chassis, wheel bearings and it even works to keep squirrels off my bird feeder pole Try to stick to one kind of thickener though...

Mixing Delvac 1 ESP 0W40 with Delvac 1300 Super 15W40

We ran the Delvac 1300 in a variety of engines. Typically we tried to limit it to 250 hrs due to the severe service but there were a couple of occasions that circumstances didnt allow us to change until we got close to 500 hrs. The analysis always came back good with life left in the oil. The...

    Done with ANY selling online!

I sold a bunch of old car parts last year and had the same issues. The scammers become easy to spot and are a problem usually for the first few hours of the ad. I post my ads with a meetup address of the local PD. I think that filters out a few. The scammers are like gnats sometimes.

Comparing Champ filters to AC Delco (hint, theyre the same)

I paid $2.03 for this one and with shipping on 7 filters, tax and the 5% discount it came in at around $2.95 My local Walmart wants over $9 for the AC. The Chevy dealer is actually cheaper for most AC filters. Since I am retired I have time to spend on things like this. It wont save me a ton of...

Comparing Champ filters to AC Delco (hint, theyre the same)

I have found that some vehicles that came with the PF63 dont necessarily show it as the replacement filter. I believe the UPF63R was designed with a stronger case for certain applications. I believe there is a bulleting on it related to the 3.6L The PF63 covers a wide range of engines and...

Comparing Champ filters to AC Delco (hint, theyre the same)

I have been using the Champ XL filters for a couple of years now and noticed they share some of the same features that some AC fliters do, not all but enough to notice. Understanding that they are both made by Champion labs it was not surprising. In the past I compared a cartridge filter for...

Motor Oil Geek..Oil & Fuel Additives

A few seconds of no oil pressure vs an almost instant rise to operating pressure. I will take the instant. I dont need a million dollar study (which BTW no one will ever fund) to know that any time I can reduce or eliminate a low/no pressure condition its better. I saw a guy a while back...
