    Infiniti G35...M1 10W30... 3,962 miles

Okay... results with my initial 7500 OCIs were unimpressive, so I targeted a shorter OCI this time, 4K, and of course the results are improved. My engine has been consuming about a qt of M1 every 3000 miles, so I've usually topped off between a half to a whole qt on the longer OCIs. This...

    Strange look of Mobil1 10W30

I changed the oil in my wife's Sequioa last weekend and had only had 2.5 qts of Mobil1 10W30 in the garage, so I went out and got 4 more quarts. When refilling, I drop a funnel in the fill hole, and pour two quarts at a time. I had one of the old qts in one hand, and a newly qt in the other...

    Infiniti G35... M1 10W30... 6,285 miles

I'm at 39,778 right now and should hit 40K by next weekend, that'll be 3,783 miles on the oil. I should have another UOA in a couple of weeks. Since it's a relatively short OCI for M1, I'm expecting low wear levels... we'll see.

    Infiniti G35... M1 10W30... 6,285 miles

Change of plan.... A concern has cropped up on the G35 board about Infiniti recommending mineral based oil in this engine, so some members are thinking that they should go back to dino. To compare synth vs. dino results, I've decided to run this fill of M1 10W30 only to 3750 miles, then do two...

losing 0.8 qt for every 5500 KM

Remember the Oil Life Study... "More than anything, what this shows is the incredible effect top-up oil has on the longevity of the motor oil." So adding make-oil shouldn't be a bad thing. However, I've never liked having any sort of leak, especially if it soils my clean garage floor. And as...

    how good are falkens

I have had the Ziexs 225/55/17 on my G35 sedan about 4 1/2 months now, 6-7K miles. These replaced the GoodYear 215/55/17 RSAs that came as OEM (a small side note: in Florida, law enforcement uses RSAs on all their cars). When comparing the Falkens to the GYs, the Ziexs have: - better grip in...

    Infiniti G35... M1 10W30... 6,285 miles

Okay... I going to run this fill of M1 to 5K then switch to GC 10W30 (assuming) I find it. If I use an OCI of 5K, that'll translate to ~4 months between changes... I hope results will be better.

    Infiniti G35... M1 10W30... 6,285 miles

... not good! I'm not sure if it's my VQ or my driving habits, but I always seem to get higher than normal lead wear in my UOAs. I use the same oil in my Sequioa and get excellent results yet my VQ seems to get some real abuse. I will likely leave this fill in only for 4 - 5K, and switch to...

    Mobil 5W-30 2003 Infiniti G35 Coupe VQ35DE

I wonder too, but if that's the reason for the oil consumption, what effect does the synth oil have on the engine that causes this?

    Mobil 5W-30 2003 Infiniti G35 Coupe VQ35DE

It would appear that VQs love the taste of Mobil1... mine has, and continues to consume 1/2 qt per 3k miles or so. My lead wear is low at 4K but rises to double digits at 7.5K; the only positive is that it has shown a downwards trend over the last 20K miles. Hopefully my next UOA will support...

    Dirty Oil Question

What about if the filter is clogged and the oil flows through the bypass valve... this oil would be unfiltered, right? If so, would the crankshaft bearings be the first place it flows to? (I know almost zip about engine internals)

    Dirty Oil Question

A question was asked about dark colored oil on a G35 board and this was one of the responses: I've never read this type of feedback over here and wanted to know what bob's regulars think. Is there validity in his explanation? His response mentions crankshaft bearings being the first to suffer...

    OCI for Toyota 4.7 V8

Here's the thread on my last OCI with my Sequioa. I've decided to use Mobil1 10W30 with 7500 mile intervals, and to leave off performing analyses until 75K or so. MY UOA thread

s06, Thanks for the response. I will spring for the Dyson package next time around and consider switching to S2000. What OCI are you utilizing? I would like to extend my interval to 15K or more with the S2000; if I do 5K analyses, it should prove interesting. Oh... and what's FP?

The feedback on this post has certainly been one of the more interesting I've received. Thanks a lot all. But A few questions: What's LC, it's costs and the specific benefits to be derived from its usage? I just read in my owner's manual that 10W40 is also recommended for my climate. Would...
