ruking, I assume TLC is the Land Cruiser... and do you have 694,000 miles on the original engine? Or has it been rebuilt a few times? What year? [ April 08, 2005, 11:47 PM: Message edited by: chinee ]

    M1 10W30, 9000 miles, 4.7L Toyota V8

Maybe a little clarification is warranted... It'seen a year since my last UOA, but not since my last oil change. The oil was in use for four and a half months.

Yep... still using the Pure One, and leaving it on for the entire interval. It seems to be working just fine, so as someone wiser than me has said, "... if it ain't broke..."

    M1 10W30, 9000 miles, 4.7L Toyota V8

A year ago, I realized that the these engines always produced great UOAs, so I decided to continue my 7500 ODI on M1 10W30 and quit doing UOAs until I hit 75K miles or so. Well a full year has passed, and I accidentally went over my ODI by 1500 miles... 9K miles on the oil, so I decided what the...

Pennzoil 10W30, 3926 miles, Infiniti G35... Surprising Results!

Most high quality/low cost dino oils (Pennzoil, Havoline, Castrol GTX, Chevron Supreme)will give good wear rates. The only down side....you gotta be under the car more often. Generally true... but as you can see, my engine didn't seem to like the M1 combined with the longer interval very much...

First analysis report for 350Z @ 42K miles.. thoughts?

Mika, I have a G35 and we use the same VQ. It looks like M1 is good for this puppy but try a longer interval, perhaps 5K. If longer intervals make you uncomfortable, switch back to conventional oils; you'll be wasting money using synths with such short intervals. I just switched from M1 to...

GC 0W-30 11300mi Toyota Land Cruiser 99 4.7l vs. Amsoil

I'm changing the oil this weekend on my Sequioa, same engine... M1 10W30, about 9K on oil, 62K on unit... I expect the results to be as solid as yours. I usually utilize a 7.5K interval, but I misread my maintainance log and left the oil in longer by accident.

"Didn't I read on another post that Nissan recommends against using synthetics? " The manual recommends mineral based oils, but doesn't specifically say no to synthetics. "...a good synthetic like M1 may have more suspended particules compared with the petroleum that may be sticking to...

I'm sure this is the SM/GF-4 formulation based on the moly level and the phos at less than 800. Was this the newer SM stuff? Looking at the API circle, it reads API service SL. Above that, "Exceeds requirements of ILSAC GF-3, GF-2, API SL and previous API standards". I guess this isn't the...

I can also conclude that the guy who made your posted comment was an idiot - of that I am sure .... That comment from the other board is hogwash. Boy... you guys are rough! Was this the newer SM stuff? You know... I never checked. I'll look at one of the bottles tonight.

I thought this analysis to be quite interesting. After running several fills of Mobil1, I was not satisfied with the UOAs on a 7500 mile interval. Lead and Iron were always very high. On lower mileage intervals the wear numbers improved, but not quite as low as I would have liked. So I decided...

That's a nice VQ report. Maybe I should start using LC in my G35... it seems to reduce wear in the VQ. I'll make that decision in 6000 miles, after two dino intervals and UOAs.

Toyota 4.7 liter V8 oil questions

No need to go looking for my UOA... I inserted a link to it a few replies above. There's 2 UOAs on the page, the first is 5W30, the second 10W30, both M1.

Toyota 4.7 liter V8 oil questions

Okay, here's my $0.02 and My Sequioa UOA thread . As you will see, excellent results. My wife drives about 25-30K yearly; I use M1 10W30 in Florida's year-round summer with a Pure One filter and a 7,500 mile OCI. Can't go wrong unless you change the oil every 3K... if you do, you'll be spending...

    What oil for 2003 4.7 V8 Toyota 4Runner

My first round of synthetic oil was done with Mobil1 5W30; I switched to 10W30 because with year-round summer in FL, the lower weight oil is not needed... that, and it was the recommendation from the board members. But as you can see, the UOA results from both weights do not show any...

    Infiniti G35...M1 10W30... 3,962 miles

" Did you observe the prescribed break-in procedure? " Pretty much. I need this car to go 250K miles or more so I'm not into abusing it. My last car, a 96 ALtima had 170K on it when I sold it. I used GTX and OCIs between 5K and 10K; I changed the oil whenever I got around to it, and the...

    What oil for 2003 4.7 V8 Toyota 4Runner

My wife's Seq gets awesome results with Mobil 1 10W30 in Florida, utilizing a 7500 mile OCI. She drives 25 miles to work one way and it's a 40/60 mix of city/highway. The results have been so good on mine and every other UOA done on this engine, that I decided not to do another UOA for a long...

    Infiniti G35...M1 10W30... 3,962 miles

Although I do drive pretty spirited, I don't think I'm too hard on the engine; redline is a place I rarely visit. As for the oil consumption, it's a trend that's beginning to pop up on the VQ. There are several threads on the G35 and 350Z forums about oil consumption, and it would appear that...
