    Nissan parts costs are insane!

For a long time now, Nissan sells only larger assemblies, not parts. For example, the front lower ball joints in my '04 350Z are replaceable, but Nissan only sells the whole upright assembly. You can get them aftermarket, but not from Nissan. And, there's the rear differential bushing that...

    Aluminum and copper wire

Do yourself a favor and only use Molex Perma-seal crimp connectors, especially on a trailer where they'll see weather. They have hot-glue-filled heat-shrink tubes that seal and provide strength. You can get butt splices, ring terminals, and quick connects. Digikey, Mouser, and Waytek have them...

Toyota Dealer's parts department's online website - which one has the lowest prices?

ToyotaPartsDeal.com often has the best prices. I compare with https://toyotaparts.ourismantoyotaofrichmond.com/ who sometimes is better. I've bought many parts from both for my '88 Supra. Both beat any dealership near me hands down.

    Generator oil?

Natural gas has a sulfur-based oderant added. The oil in my generator stinks when I change it, so I expect the oil to deal properly with the sulfur.

Record run on your original electric fuel pump

I have 287k miles on my '88 Supra, likely a Denso pump. I came close to running out of gas only once, but I used to run it down to E all the time. Now I fill up at half a tank because I don't drive it as much as I used to.

VINTAGE WATER INJECTION - NEED INFO

I'm all for playing around. You'll save some gas because this lets you run leaner without detonation, and you can run lower octane fuel.

VINTAGE WATER INJECTION - NEED INFO

What is it, @Fish Fry, about your '41 Chevy that makes you want to use this? What's your engine's compression ratio? Have you increased that? Are you getting detonation (pinging)?

    Vapor cannister reloading

Sounds like the vent valve is not preventing liquid from exiting the tank out the vent tube. Does your problem only show up when you fill up completely? Are you adding more fuel after the pump shuts off the first time?

    Vapor cannister reloading

I have a car with a 37 year, 287k mile old canister that works just fine. I'd look for a used one or one from another car that fits. Or, your problem is elsewhere. Last fuel tank I took apart has the vent way up at the top with a valve inside I think is to keep liquid out of the vent. Your...

best coolant choice for iron block, brass radiator and Al trans cooler?

Late vote for Toyota Red. My '88 Supra has an iron block, aluminum head, and brass/copper heater core. Originally it had a copper radiator, but I now have an aluminum one. Red excels at dealing with this mix of metals.

    Need help understanding torx types

As I understand it, the patent expired for Torx, so the originator had to make something new to keep a patent, hence Torx Plus. They're close enough you can sometimes interchange, but not if you need lots of torque. It's more annoying than the Phillips/Pozidriv confusion. For the same size...

Will this stuff seal a gas tank leak?

The fun part of fuel today is the added ethanol. Long-term, that ethanol will eat into JB Weld and any other epoxy. Every JB Weld product contains the same epoxy base, be it the standard two-tube goop or a stick product, like SteelStik. That Permatex aviation gasket maker dissolves easily in...

Preferred gear oil for super 8.8 rear end.

I will only recommend Redline gear oils.

Does anyone make 100% stainless steel band clamps?

Been there. It's stupid, but there it is. On mine, I replaced the non-stainless bolts with stainless ones, but the bar in the middle is not so easy to replace. Mine are all balls of rust now, but at least I can get the bolts loose.

    Fuel sending unit sealant

Viton is good. Good luck with the Seal-All. If it fails, go with the Permatex PermaShield linked above. PermaShield is definitely immune to gasoline + ethanol.

    Control arm{s} "compliance bushings"

It's a standard term for a (generally) rubber bushing that twists and flexes in use. Compare to polyurethane "bushings" which are really bearings because two surfaces slide on each other. There's no sliding in a compliance bushing.

    Any 7M owners out there?

I've owned my '88 GE for 31 years now and have been through many different oils. I used to run some quite thick, but no more. The 7MGTE is known for low oil pressure, especially at idle, but the GE has none of that equipment to cause that. The GE has tighter bearing clearances than the GTE, no...

Has anyone here owned just American vehicles or foreign vehicles?

First car: 1974 SAAB Sonett III Second car: 1988 Toyota Supra Third car: 2004 Nissan 350Z I still have (and drive regularly) the Supra and 350Z. I know I'm weird.

    parts source

Summit Racing is a solid retailer. There's no way I will ever buy car parts from Amazon, especially with their hopeless counterfeit problem.
