anything to look out for when getting a brake fluid change?

I've had great luck with simple gravity bleeds and using my one man bleeders from tubing a water bottle. Hardest part is fighting corrosion on the bleeders. That's really it.

What are you working on today?

Nothing crazy for this old guy. Cleared my vole traps, did my hill run, cleaned and parked the 6 horse, hooked up the 3 horse, cleaned the 3500's cabin filter, fixed a snap on my dump pouch, refilled the propane and got the travel trailer ready, put a round bale out and cleaned some paddocks...

Modified oil selection for modified application

@clarknova where abouts are you? Depending on where you are, Federated Co-op makes some great products, such as 5w and 10w30 semi synthetics, group 4 based 0w40 and what used to be a group 4 based 5w40. PetroCan has bulk dealers strewn about and as mentioned, make great products in all...

    Best road trip vehicle?

@6.7 CTD I too agree. I did a 3000km round trip from the prairies to the coast. I aired the tires down and it road as good as a 1 ton could. But, the power, relative fuel economy for a large truck and very roomy. That thing with its power and exhaust brake was an absolute beast through the...

What are you working on today?

@ripcord the drums on this one took some coaxing the first go around. Thankfully the antiseize is doing what it's supposed to. Part of my maintenance is just tearing things apart, inspecting and adding antiseize.

What are you working on today?

@ripcord It's a 2004. I had a look at the soft lines but they appeared ok. I have not noticed any leaks or drop in the reservoir level as of yet. In the event they begin leaking, I have already began cleaning and soaking then threads.

Worked on my daughter's Escape. Then took the quad out to check the trails and my vole traps. Only up to 7 this year but last year's hard work has paid off. Came across this fine specimen out on the trails.

What are you working on today?

Finally did the rear wheel brake cylinders on my daughter's Ford Escape. Months ago I tried to bleed them but broke one bleeders and felt some metal yield on the other. Picked up some from Napa. Took my time and managed to not break the hard lines. Everything was rusty but salvageable. New...

How long does a filter last on the shelf?

Meh, I'd use it. As for GM genuine, as an example, I pulled a factory filtran filter out of my Trailblazer. I bought a Baldwin or Hastings replacement and it was....... a filtran.

brake pad ears . lube or not

Only once have i lubed the ears. Did it make a difference? Who knows. The issue I see and run into, I drive a lot of grid roads and dusty conditions. Grit builds up on everything, especially exposed grease.

What are you eating right now?

And boys, it is very good!!! It's a leaner cut, eye of round. It was essentially unicorn tears trying to find chuck. Either way, it worked out great!!

What are you eating right now?

@Pablo and @Zee09 you dribbly buggers are welcome any time!! I had a few little "samples" as I worked. I added the sauce after that last picture. I don't overload it as I hate covering up the taste of good smoked beef.

Made 12 pounds of taco beef and finished up the pulled beef. We are putting on two lunches this weekend. 8+ hours on the Traeger at 225F, then wrapped with some brown sugar and apple juice. Then finished at 265 in the oven. All the juices along with a few bottles of Bullseye mixed in. Its...

At the calm before the storm. Have a busy weekend, kids in drill ride and my oldest running for rodeo queen. Lots of riding and presenting this weekend, along with 90 calves coming tomorrow for the first team penning event of the year. So I got out, cleared my vole traps and shot a few...
