    ranking of local filters

This is all very good feed back. One thing I will say though I see a lot of posts here that differentiate Ecore filters from non-ecore filters of the same brand. I that's probably a designation that will work for guys who get on bobistheoilguy.com. But I know that the guys I have in mind for...

    ranking of local filters

Thanks, all. Very good feed back so far. Yeah I expected to have some debate about the low end/avoid category, especially Fram. All the filters that I put there were based on basically on poor construction. Especially the Fram of which I've heard multiple stories of them coming apart mid OCI...

I think some of these are filters that aren't available at the local stores here...or I could have missed them I suppose...I don't know all of their inventory. But feel free to list stuff i've missed and where you would rank it. We might as well make the list as complete as possible.

    stp air filter quality??

Anybody familiar with the stp air filter? Picked one up today at Auto-zone. Was planning to pick up the Fram air filter but they weren't in stock. I noticed the stp filters had the same part numbers as the Frams so I'm wondering if it's the same filter re-branded. Thoughts?

    Summer or All Season

Well I've considered that it might be nice to be able to put all-seasons on during the transition weeks. But often I usually end up having the winter tires on during the surprise cold events. As far as the wear goes the car is driven in a low mileage situation, rarely more that 6 to 8 thousand...

    Summer or All Season

It's time for new tires on my prism. I have a set of Blizzak tires for winter use. So I'm trying to decide if I should stick with all season tires for summer use or switch to a summer tire. Thoughts or recommendations?

    Dakota oil pressure woas

Well I decided I should install a mechanical oil pressure gauge to get a better picture of what is going on. It turns out that the dash gauge is serverly inaccurate when the engine is hot. At engine start when hot pressure comes up instantly on the mechanical gauge but can take as much as 40...

Sorry guys I forgot to mention that his driving is about 60% short city trips 40% long highway. Also this run included one can of BG MOA added to the oil. Wix Filter-Standard Metal Shavings??

Yeah I usually try to hit the threads with a rag before installing the filter. A friend of mine actually takes a copper wire and runs it around the threads before installing. He says he sometimes gets a few shavings out that way.

    O'Reilly Store Brand Oil

O'Reilly is having a pretty good sale on their in house oil. I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the quality of it. I only found one UOA. https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/oreilly-10w-30-2-654-miles-2000-tundra-v-8.88990/ It looks pretty good in this analysis but this is...
