Want to try HPL after 4 OCIs of Valvoline Restore and Protect

Wish they would go into more detail about whats the real difference between Premium and Premium Plus, given the price I'd opt for the latter but maybe I'm just a sucker.

Want to try HPL after 4 OCIs of Valvoline Restore and Protect

My thoughts exactly. That's why I'm getting just the 2 gallons. If the Kia burns right through them I'll go back to VRP.

Want to try HPL after 4 OCIs of Valvoline Restore and Protect

Didn't want to hijack anyone's thread about trying HPL or any of the ongoing discussions about HPL and Restore and Protect. I'm almost half way through my 4th OCI with Valvoline's Restore and Protect. Im getting impatient waiting for a response from HPL so I thought I'd ask y'all since...

Which oil cleans more: HPL or Valvoline Restore and Protect?

Screw it, full send. That's what I plan to do. I want to switch to HPL after my fourth OCI of the VRP is done

Alternate uses for unused motor oil?

CLP for weapons. Used it on my Mossberg, no issues.

    Horrible Fram Endurance Filter

Maybe this defect doesn't effect all part numbers. If someone has that defect with my PN I'd be more concerned. Still unacceptable but does prompt anything from me. Thank you for sharing

    Horrible Fram Endurance Filter

I must be missing something. I have used the Fram Endurance and haven't noticed anything of concern. Granted I didn't cut my last one open but nothing out of the ordinary IME

Fram Endurance vs Purolator Boss oil filters

You really could cut the 20-25k mile filter longevity claim in half and still get 2 uses (5k OCIs) out of it. Maybe I'm thinking of what I would do with a naturally aspirated GDI but still, 5k on these ultra premium filters seems wasteful, no judgment.

    Valvoline Restore & Protect

Not in my experience. Oil consumption is constant from a fresh oil change to near the end of one. If anything, I've observed the opposite, over the last 15,000 miles since using the VRP, there have been periods of reduced consumption as the miles on an OCI rack up, but it's gradual, and caps at...

    Valvoline Restore & Protect

Me too. But honestly, I knew better what I was getting into with the Sportage than I did with the Sonata, having had the benefit of the knowledge and experience of dealing with the latter. The way I saw it, it was going to burn oil and this is fine, I can deal with it, have for years, or I'd...

    Valvoline Restore & Protect

A very strong probability. It's a Kia. 2019 Sportage AWD with the Theta II. Got in June with 98k. The 2017 Sonata we had before (bought used in 2019 with 25k) started consuming about the same amount of oil around 60k miles, and nothing I tried helped until it was totalled in March with 93k miles.

    Valvoline Restore & Protect

are the results a UOA or oil consumption log? I'm 1500 miles into my fourth run with the stuff and I still have oil consumption, which has fluctuated from 1qt every 500 miles to every 1000 miles or so. I don't understand it. I also don't have a UOA but I think I should sample my third and...

A check of my Hyundai Santa Fe catch can

Does that stuff freeze? I figure gas and oil won't freeze at 32° F but if enough moisture accumulates, would it freeze? Does a car with this set up, sitting outside in below freezing temperatures every night, run that risk?

Is 112k miles too high mileage for a Transmission service?

I really appreciate that, thank you. Ive been inspired by YouTubers like ChrisFix and then encouraged by people here, especially keeping records/documenting everything

Is 112k miles too high mileage for a Transmission service?

Did I read this right? Why pay for something that will disappoint me?

Road trip with 4k miles on oil already

Not to hijack the thread, but I'm curious to see if anyone's advice changes under different circumstances. So, I just changed the oil (VRP 5W30/FRAM Endurance) in our 2019 Kia Sportage (118k) on Saturday. I do 5k OCIs. We leave later next month, going from NY to TX (with a stop in GA) and...

Is 112k miles too high mileage for a Transmission service?

I think it might have something to do with the lack of a serviceable filter, but I could be very wrong. I'm less knowledgeable on transmissions than I am engines, and even that is only a rudimentary understanding (at least compared to most of y'all) I do know the filter in these cars are not...
