Direct injection engine struggles to warm up(Mazda 2.5NA) am I overreacting?

Update, while it hasn’t set the Check engine light off I managed to get a code to set.

    2020 Mazda 3 2.5 NA 8005mi Supertech 0W-20/ OE filter.

Planning on using a lab that checks for fuel better next oil change, by then I’ll be off Powertrain warranty and I might decide to use a 0W-30 or 5W-30. This engine calls for 5W-30 in Mexico.

    2020 Mazda 3 2.5 NA 8005mi Supertech 0W-20/ OE filter.

Sedan, and yeah I’m hoping mine goes off, the dealer and Mazda haven’t been cooperative on a warranty replacement without a cel set

    2020 Mazda 3 2.5 NA 8005mi Supertech 0W-20/ OE filter.

8,005 mile oil change, oil was in use around 6 months. I’m fairly gentle on my car but I do live in the mountains and I think I’m having a temperature control issue in the engine where it’s running a bit cold(have another post on that) so I’m happy with these results for sure. Was also looking...

Direct injection engine struggles to warm up(Mazda 2.5NA) am I overreacting?

Some people know just enough to shoot themselves in the foot unfortunately

Direct injection engine struggles to warm up(Mazda 2.5NA) am I overreacting?

Unfortunately I’m traveling for work and away from my car, that being said I did record one graph with data before leaving. This was from driving and idling, the car wasn’t off at any point. I do live in a mountainous area, so I was going up and downhill. Also sorry about the time axis, feel...

Direct injection engine struggles to warm up(Mazda 2.5NA) am I overreacting?

I’ve done some research, I have a bootleg copy of most of the Mazda service information on my computer as well, so I know a fair amount about the cooling system. My understanding is that by design, the cooling system of this car is supposed to be regulated by an electronic valve, which opens...

Direct injection engine struggles to warm up(Mazda 2.5NA) am I overreacting?

I have occasionally seen a pending P0126, but it never actually sets as a confirmed code. I understand that a lot of these modern engines seem to take awhile to warm, but for reference I drove 25 minutes/25 miles, almost all freeway to work and it was reading maybe 140F at the end of that...

Direct injection engine struggles to warm up(Mazda 2.5NA) am I overreacting?

Hello, I have a 2020 Mazda 3 has an issue getting up to operating temp. Both of the coolant sensors agree, the car is running cold. Unless I drive aggressively, in 10-40F temps, it struggles to get above 140-160F when I have the heat on. This is a fairly well known issue, and there’s a TSB for...

2020 Mazda 3 Rear Diff factory fill 45,325mi

Gets down to -15F ish here potentially I live in the mountains. I’ll stick with the overpriced Mazda fluid for now, then I’ll look at other options.

2020 Mazda 3 Rear Diff factory fill 45,325mi

Keeping in mind I have no idea what people are doing to their cars, including mismatched tires or drivetrain abuse in the parking lot, I’ve seen some early failures from like 25,000-45,000mi. Some of them apparently were from factory QA issues, less than .1qt of fluid in there. Anyways that...

2020 Mazda 3 Rear Diff factory fill 45,325mi

Replaced my rear diff fluid due to people having early failures of the diff on this car. Not sure if it was from under filled diffs at the factory or actual mechanical flaws. Anyways fluid looked fine when I changed it. The factory fill should be Mazda 75W-85 SG1 GL-4

Car recommends 5W-30 outside US and Canada vs 0W-20. Run 5W-30 right?

My only concern is versions of the car exist without cyl deactivation. Maybe none of them have it outside of NA and that's why they recommend 0W-20 here?

Car recommends 5W-30 outside US and Canada vs 0W-20. Run 5W-30 right?

Wow this thread blew up! Was busy at work so didn't go on here for a bit. Mazda 3 with the 2.5L NA engine. About 30,000mi on it. Car has Cyl deactivation if that makes a difference(yes I think that Cyl deactivation in a 4 cyl is extremely stupid).

Car recommends 5W-30 outside US and Canada vs 0W-20. Run 5W-30 right?

My very simple logic here is the 5W-30 is probably the better choice for the engine. If 0W-20 was really what was optimal, why not recommend it globally? Thoughts? Especially when it’s hot.

Bike(Versys-X 300) recommends either 10W-50 or 20W-50 for hot weather operation. Thoughts?

Alright I’ve been convinced. By this place and others…I’ll run a quality 10W-40 oil. There’s already been a few good recommendations here. Thanks guys.

Yeah this thing is awesome, you can have fun without getting tickets or unsafe speeds.

Bike(Versys-X 300) recommends either 10W-50 or 20W-50 for hot weather operation. Thoughts?

Yeah maybe I should just do that. It's my first bike that's my own, and I'll admit I'm probably being overcautious about the few times a year if that where I'll be in conditions over the 10W-40 range on the chart. I just know it will bother me....

Bike(Versys-X 300) recommends either 10W-50 or 20W-50 for hot weather operation. Thoughts?

About 25-30F. Reviewing the oil change intervals, I'd probably like to keep one viscosity actually if it all possible. Within the OM chart, that means 10W-50. Maybe 15W-50 if I extrapolate. And just got it last week, but it's been great so far. I'm a one bike kind of guy and this thing is...
