The funny thing is that if one wants to protect their catalytic converters as much as possible the only solution is to use diesel oil specifically Chevron delo ADF because it has no zinc or phosphorus. it gets its protection from molybdenum. Walmart sells ADF 15W-40 at a good price.

I imagine something as new as a 2015 will have them on both but my old Yukon is odd it has a fot up front but txv in the back but I've never seen it.

I'm thinking the txv has failed.

I can't see how going up 4-5 cst kv 100 or 0.8-1.1 cst hths can make an engine sluggish especially in summer west coast weather. I went straight from 0w-20 to 5w-40 in my new suv and the engine free revs the same. Doesn't feel like there's thicker in there. Same with the 15w-40 in my old trucks...

Someone posted a picture of their valve cover using M1 with 10k intervals and I think it was over 200k and it looked pretty much spotless.

I'd rather use esp 0w-20 over either of those.

Outside of the US that engine takes everything from 0w-20 to 20w-50 in the owners manual. Same with toyotas and others. I'm using 5w-40 instead of 0w-20 in my cadilac and mitsubishi. More importantly service the CVT. They last forever with basic maintenance and I believe yours had a drain bolt...

Yeah it's still ck/sn. 2.99 a quart in either 2.5 or 5 gal containers can't be beat. Last I checked the 10w-30 was a bit less too at 27.99 reg for 2.5g.

Walmart made an oopsie and mislabeled Delo XSP as Delo XLE SB so I scored 3 gallons for half price but it was only for this box. I did check both 6 quart boxes by removing the caps and saw that both pull tabs were still intact and the oil looked new. It's only missing the outer box which houses...

I love the great price mag 1 10w-30 and 15w-40 can be had at and you can get free shipping with lowes. No clue what their fmx is but the oil is great nonetheless so i'll keep buying more.

I've been seeing 30 grade small engine oil say SP on it so maybe it's not loaded up like how it used to be. I remember the tbn and additives being very high on them but those are likely gone or dying out. Fwiw it doesn't matter much.

Might as well since you're doing the rest. No way I'd pay 1200 for an atf change unless it was on something worth over a quarter million but even then I'd be tempted to diy.

Even though they leave a big mess in the corner of my front porch it's nothing a pre wash with a hose before a quick pressure wash and a muriatic acid soak after can't fix and it's only once a year. I like them and I'll let them nest.
