    Dashcam...Solve or create problems?

Okay, but one shouldn't ignore the fact that one also makes mistakes which can have tragic consequences. It's not a one-way street and not always someone else who is at fault. That video can help resolve ambiguity is undeniable, but that works both ways. Does anyone here really want to proclaim...

Funny, I thought the same of you.

    Dashcam...Solve or create problems?

I think it's silly to consider only the upside potential of having video available while ignoring the downside risk. But whatever, you do you. Incidentally, the PO can easily contact your cell carrier and determine whether you were on the phone when any accident occurred, no court order needed...

    Dashcam...Solve or create problems?

All of which assumes you aren't the one who screwed up in an accident sequence, as silly an assumption as that of us here all being superior drivers. Not me doing the dreaming up in this case.

    Dashcam...Solve or create problems?

Oh, I dunno, maybe the police report indicating an installed cam or scene photos showing one. Also, there'd be no need for an insurer to provide for this in their policy contract, only their desire to arrive at a clear indication of which party should be liable, and the insurers of both parties...

Would you eat "lab grown" meat?

Has anyone here seen how cattle are raised and processed? It's neither pretty nor clean. Would cultured meat be any worse?

    Dashcam...Solve or create problems?

I've always kinda thought that dash cams were the purview of the tin foil hat brigade. I can certainly see them as beneficial, but also as a two edged sword. The dash cam will document your own faux pas as well as it will those of the other party. Forget the cops. Nothing prevents your insurer...

Air India Flight AI171 (Boeing 787-8) Crash

A clue might lie in the RAT. Was it deployed or not? The survivor's account would seem to corroborate a brief loss of cabin electrical power after he heard what he described as a loud bang. Compressor stall? We should be able to see some evidence of that in the various videos and I don't think...

Would you buy a new Mitsubishi?

Go and drive one and see what you think. If it seems to perform to your satisfaction and you need a car, then why not? The price is certainly right and since it is a leftover you can probably negotiate it down.

Air India Flight AI171 (Boeing 787-8) Crash

At this point we have no more than speculation. In terms of airman skill and knowledge, some are more informed than others but nobody is as yet informed with verifiable data. That will come and a definitive probable cause will be arrived at. Until then, we have a plane full of folks, mostly...

    Forum clean language rules

I can't see maintaining a level of decorum on this site as a problem. It's actually rather refreshing. People in general have gotten too profane in common discourse.

Yes, that is exactly what happened and FR24 updated their info to reflect this.

Air India Flight AI171 (Boeing 787-8) Crash

I happened to catch this awful event on the news when I got up this morning. There is already a long thread on this accident on one of the dedicated Av sites. It is only around 3700 NM AMD to LGW, so the aircraft would have been a long way from full tanks, although AI could have dispatched the...

Flew on a brand new American 787-900

If we were, I doubt that we'd be flying commercial. Booking this as an open-jaw itinerary made it unbelievably cheap, and UAL does offer senior discount rates. Pegasus is one of Turkish Airlines low cost subsidiaries.

    Watched a documentary on OceanGate

I really wanted to believe that this guy had figured out an engineering solution that the old-school boys simply couldn't grasp. Alas, he had not and he died along with his passengers. The ship did make a number of dives before the fatal one and I find it hard to believe that Rush thought he was...

    1994 Honda Acty

A really nice example of the breed. These things are really cute and do offer some utility. I look at them online now and then and they can be had for quite reasonable money US POE.

Flew on a brand new American 787-900

So you went to the trouble of looking it up? Thanks! We get to fly UAL to VCE on a 767, a plane we've always like flying on. Anyway, we get to return from TBS (open jaw booking) on partner Lufthansa through FRA and FRA-IAD will be a 747 8i, a plane I wanted to fly on. We'll fly from SAW to TBS...

    BITOG wisdom/sage advice.

Never forget the old six degrees of separation meme. How often have you met someone who knows someone you have in common with them? Be careful about venting to people at large or online.

Flew on a brand new American 787-900

According to the booking on UAL's site, it'll be a 145. Won't be very full, I would guess. Nobody flies to IAD from DAY except for international connections. If one were flying to DC, one would use DCA.
