    4 New Filters Cut Open

Like i stated in that post, I have a stockpile of the Amsoil & Endurance filters. Been using the Amsoil filter for far over a decade, probably closer to two & the Endurance about a year or so after they came out. Not much against them other than some of their ADBV’s are very poor. Sloppy glue is...

    4 New Filters Cut Open

I just left a message with Donaldson about the ADBV sealing issue. Couldn’t attach photos to the form but requested an engineer or technician respond if they wish to see the issue.

Mobil 1 M1-301A used as transmission filter

There’s always the Donaldson Synteq spin on P169071. No ADBV. Can get from Fleetpride or order online. https://shop.donaldson.com/store/en-us/product/P169071/16389

FleetGuard vs Donaldson vs Kubota (OEM) Filters and Monolec Ultra® Engine Oil 8130

The Donaldson you’re referencing is their cellulose media filter. It’s a 40 micron rated filter. Here is the synthetic media version rated at 17 micron: https://shop.donaldson.com/store/en-us/product/P550318/20283 I did a C&P of the P551132 synthetic spin on. Not a fan of the ADBV but I’m a...

    4 New Filters Cut Open

Just got back from walking my dog. Decided to go ahead and check the second Donaldson for ADBV sealing. Well, it’s just as bad as the first one. Didn’t cut it open. Also checked the second Fram Ti. It sealed up perfectly, just like the first. Was still curious about the lack of glue holding...

    4 New Filters Cut Open

My main complaint with the Donaldson is the ADBV not sealing, at all. Once I finish this cup of coffee & walk the dog, I’ll go take a look at the remaining Donaldson to see if it seals better. From what @Mewbs has stated, it sounds like it might be a poor ADBV. Wish it was a silicone one with...

I’ve previously stated that I’m also a fan of the Donaldson synthetic media. Big fan actually. I’m not a fan of the ADBV in this filter & the core shift/warpage wasn’t great either but likely won’t impact filtering. It’s also rated at 17 micron instead of 20. Donaldson synthetic filters saved...

    4 New Filters Cut Open

The Endurance & Amsoil are the same filter. This particular Amsoil filter had sloppy glue & slightly less media by one pleat. I’d venture a guess that if I did 10 of each they’d average out to even.

The Fram/Amsoil primary pleats are softer & slightly thicker than the Donaldson primary layer. The secondary layer on the Amsoil/Fram is FAR thinner than the Donaldson secondary layer. The Donaldson primary does have a smoother or more uniform look to it but to the touch it feels denser and not...

    4 New Filters Cut Open

It’s not easy to tell in pictures but the Donaldson core is warped. The bottom is shifted over to one side by at least 1/4” or more.

I used my phones light but it wasn’t good enough to see if there was wire backing or not. Here’s a couple more pictures of the Donaldson media. The secondary layer is nearly as thick as the primary:

    First oil filter you bought?

First for myself was a Napa filter for the 289 in my old 66 Mustang. Don’t remember if it was a gold or silver. Oil was Napa 20/50 or Chevron Supreme 20/50. Used both & don’t remember which went in first.
