What are you working on today?

1997 F150 4x4 Ball Joint Fiasco A friend of mine noticed that his trucks steering had become just a tad “slack” on the road and had me take a look at it. I found it needed 2 tie-rod ends, a pitman arm, and to say that the lower ball joints were a “tad” loose would be a massive understatement...

What are you working on today?

With the truck still moving with that much of the seal missing I would hazard a guess that the transmission pump has "still got oomph" :)

What are you working on today?

Kind of looks like the metal ring for a valve stem seal. It has been a long time, but I think the type of seal was called a PC seal?

What are you working on today?

THANK YOU! This will be a big help tracking down that relay ground. I really hope that it goes somewhere other than the PCM.

Another update. I have discovered that finding the "proper" parts for a Kia can be a chore. Finding the specific fuel pump assembly was, lets just say, a royal pain. It seems that KIA, back then, had a difficult time in deciding just what pump they should use.I used various online catalogs going...

What are you working on today?

Thank you! I usually find it kind of fun being a "detective", although It gets a tad bit more involved with the "newer" rigs, and being "old school" I kinda prefer older vehicles :)

What are you working on today?

Update on my last post where a neighbor attempted to jump start his 2000 Kia Sportage, hooked up the jumper cables incorrectly, and has a no start condition. The engine would fire when using ether only, the in-tank fuel pump was not working. I found that the main underhood 80-amp fuse had...

What are you working on today?

Diagnosing a neighbors 1999 Kia Sportage. No power to the fuel pump. He was jump starting the rig and hooked up the cables wrong. Blew the 80 amp underhood, main fuse. Replaced the fuse and still have no power to the pump. it WILL run on starting fluid so it didnt totally fry the ecm, but what...

What are you working on today?

Looks like the "Mekboy" used a rock to reconnect that connector. A gold star for whomever guesses what genre "Mekboy" is from (and NO fair using Google) :)

Got a kick out of your comment "mission critical military aircraft". My respect for the owner of that vehicle could not be any higher. Those engine internals look like they did when it rolled off the assembly line. Of course, if all owners took this good of care of their vehicles, there would be...

M My eye spies a Autolite starter! THAT photo triggered a neuron that has been sitting quiescent for a very, very, looooooong time. :)

What are you working on today?

True. it is at times difficult to decide which way to jump. My thought on the specific bypass kit option that I was researching was that while it would not save the original pump, it would save the rest of the fuel system (if it operates as intended of course), and is a tad bit cheaper than a...
