1997 F150 4x4 Ball Joint Fiasco A friend of mine noticed that his trucks steering had become just a tad “slack” on the road and had me take a look at it. I found it needed 2 tie-rod ends, a pitman arm, and to say that the lower ball joints were a “tad” loose would be a massive understatement...

With the truck still moving with that much of the seal missing I would hazard a guess that the transmission pump has "still got oomph" :)

Kind of looks like the metal ring for a valve stem seal. It has been a long time, but I think the type of seal was called a PC seal?

Another update. I have discovered that finding the "proper" parts for a Kia can be a chore. Finding the specific fuel pump assembly was, lets just say, a royal pain. It seems that KIA, back then, had a difficult time in deciding just what pump they should use.I used various online catalogs going...

Thank you! I usually find it kind of fun being a "detective", although It gets a tad bit more involved with the "newer" rigs, and being "old school" I kinda prefer older vehicles :)

Diagnosing a neighbors 1999 Kia Sportage. No power to the fuel pump. He was jump starting the rig and hooked up the cables wrong. Blew the 80 amp underhood, main fuse. Replaced the fuse and still have no power to the pump. it WILL run on starting fluid so it didnt totally fry the ecm, but what...
