College degrees worth extra $23k/yr in salary

A test and/or interview related to the field and/or position being applied for. I, as an employer, would want to hire someone who can do the job. This doesn't necessarily equate to someone who has a paper saying that they have been trained to do the job. Having the discipline it takes to learn...

College degrees worth extra $23k/yr in salary

I'm not against college/degrees but... I find it somewhat distasteful when someone is hired simply because they have a degree, even when the degree is in a field unrelated to the job, while perfectly qualified people, without degrees, are turned away with nary a second look. To me, this is just...

    Bouncing junk mail

Sounds like you are all set. Disclaimer: I run Mac OS X and I'm not all that familiar with what might happen on a Windows machine. Messages might contain some type of nefarious scripting/code that's triggered when the message is opened/viewed on a Windows machine. I suppose that even on a Mac...

    Bouncing junk mail

Bouncing email, or pretending to do so, is rarely effective at fighting spam since it is likely being bounced to an address that's been hijacked or faked. Imagine receiving thousands of bounce messages because some POS spammer used your address in the from field (which is very easy to do)...

    True or False?

wantin150, thanks for the links. I've never really considered that ambient temperature and indoor to outdoor temperature variations should be compensated for when checking/inflating tires. I have learned something so this is a good day!

    True or False?

Won't the pressure go up anyway under these conditions, due to heat, or doesn't that count? Maybe a dumb question but that's how I learn.

Which direction to put an outdoor thermometer?

The frequency used on my wireless thermometer is 433 MHz. Are there phones and routers using that frequency? I have a WiFi router and cordless phone and I've never noticed any interference.

Which direction to put an outdoor thermometer?

Yup, I used to find/inadvertently listen to them with my radio scanner, as well as 800 MHz cell phones. It was interesting and entertaining (only when I couldn't find the scan button soon enough to stop eavesdropping). XS650, Regarding your military veteran status, thanks for your service.

Which direction to put an outdoor thermometer?

I use wireless thermometers because the sensors can be placed strategically and displays can be placed in convenient locations. They yield fairly accurate readings with no doors to open and no peering through obstructed windows (condensation, snow, etc.). I can sit in my Lazy Boy and see all of...

Which direction to put an outdoor thermometer?

That might work. Keeping it out of sunlight (direct or reflected) is the primary goal but it's also important to try to place it where the air does not become stagnant.

Which direction to put an outdoor thermometer?

North side, where it won't get hammered by the sun.

    Cracked Windshield, Suggestions?

I've heard that it's sometimes a good idea to drill a small hole at each end of a windshield crack to prevent it from spreading. The holes can be filled with clear caulk to prevent leakage. This is a temporary fix to be used only until the windshield can be properly repaired/replaced.
