RL 5W-30 is already a 40 weight in terms of HTHS. You don't need a heavier oil. If you just keep changing oils all the time you'll never find out how each is really doing.

Is there a concrete example of a trend that shows LC doing much of anything? Does it actually thin out oil due to 'anti-oxidation' properties, or is it just because of adding a 10W base oil to the system?

When there are deposits of that magnitude, there is no substitute for cleaning it manually. Period.

All the 5K service intervals and analysis around here with high quality synths are just as bad as the 3K fanatics. Maybe even worse.
