This is funny, the last time I was on here talking about my K5 GT and the response was all about the euro. As in 5w-30 or the M1 HM 10w-30 I was running before wasn’t enough.
For the record my GT runs like a scalded cat on M1 0w-40 FS. I couldn’t tell a difference from the factory 0w-30 fill...
The lovely lady just bought this, 2nd turbo in the fleet. I’m running M1 FS 0w-40 in my K5, just want to confirm that a 5w-40 Euro (or the M1) will work for this 1.6L turbo engine. I mean, I know it will work, but is it an appropriate choice and blah blah blah.
OM calls for A5/B5 5w-30...

Currently running M1 0w-40. I’m pondering the Euro vs the HDEO oils for the next change. Some specific oils would be Pennzoil Euro 5w-40. Stick with M1. QS Euro 5w-40. Rotella T6
Thoughts? She’s a fuel diluter. At 6k the oil smells of gas. I run...
I’m still loving my K5 GT. Got about 20k miles on her now. I haven’t had her on a dyno but I feel like she gives a bit more on 93 octane. Would be interested in your thoughts if you have tried it. There’s also a chip/harness kit available to dial it up to ludicrous speed…
Modern vehicles have baffles to prevent this. Not saying it’s ok to overfill but in a modern vehicle even if you fill a quart over you are probably ok. My fusion has a metal plate with slots at the bottom of the block/top of oil pan to block wind coming off the crank from churning up the oil...
I’d be more worried about the water pump in that engine since it dumps coolant into the sump when it fails. Have you kept up with coolant changes to keep the water pump bearings happy?
Not trying to hate, I love the EB 3.5 but that water pump design is a suicide bomb in each and every unit.
I think the fuel dilution isn’t such a problem if you run premium. I’ve rolled 3k now and there is only the slightest hint of carbon on the exhaust tips. My dad has a 2019 sonata with the GDI 2.4 and his exhaust looks like a coal mine. I haven’t ragged on him about it because I’ve only gone 3k...
