    VW 2.0T FSI - RLI 5w40/20w50 mix UOA - 5.7k miles

4 qts RLI 5w40 / 1 qt RLI 20w50: Fairly skeptical about the validity of the flashpoint and fuel dilution numbers, seem high relative to the viscosity. Overall, I'm extremely happy with the RLI. Probably lost a few HP when compared to the Redline, but the motor runs more smooth and quiet...

    Oil emergency!

Would expect your oil consumption to be slightly higher with the M1 0w40... Also with your mileage, the rod bearing clearances won't be a snug as they used to be either. Are you in a super cold climate, because the M1 15w50 would be a much more natural substitute for the TWS...

    M5 oil consumption?

    M5 oil consumption?

The s62 in '00 M5s used the old ring design and had a propensity for eating oil... Consumption varied pretty widely, from anywhere between 1 qt every thousand miles to almost zero. The CEL is definitely worrisome... there is quite a list of potential issues that are [censored] expensive to fix...

    VW 2.0T Cam Follower Comparison

I never received a letter... seems like it only applies up until 2007 models. The "scratchy" surface appearance on the follower changed @ 29k is not actually wear marks. The DLC coating is so thin that it was cracking, or delaminating in certain spots. This gave the appearance of cracks even...

    VW 2.0T Cam Follower Comparison

2008 VW GTI 2.0T FSI 45k miles No motor mods Pulled my second cam follower at 45k total miles. Last one was replaced at 29k, so this was in for 16k miles. I was running a mix of 4 qts Redline 5w40, and 1 qt Redline Race w50 at 5k mile change intervals. It exhibited very similar wear patterns...

    Red Line 4qt 5w40, 1 qt w50 Race - VW 2.0T FSI

I'm running pretty short change intervals, didn't really think that TBN was my issue... Could pony up the extra cash on the next UOA if people are curious. Unfortunately, I don't have an accurate oil temperature gauge in this car. But these motors run mid to high 200's when they are being pushed...

    Red Line 4qt 5w40, 1 qt w50 Race - VW 2.0T FSI

Thanks for the details saaber... Was betting that silicone was native to Red Line

    Red Line 4qt 5w40, 1 qt w50 Race - VW 2.0T FSI

Yea, I was autocrossing frequently and adding a bottle of techron to 1/2 tank before every race... Completely stopped adding techron after the first fill due to the fuel dilution #'s

    Red Line 4qt 5w40, 1 qt w50 Race - VW 2.0T FSI

First two fills were castrol syntec 5w40, next fill was motul xcess 8100 5w40, then motul specific 5w40... Previous Red Line fill was 4 qts 5w40 and 1 qt w40 race

    Red Line 4qt 5w40, 1 qt w50 Race - VW 2.0T FSI

Silicone and Lead numbers are headed in the wrong direction... Air filter has less than 5k miles on it, so the silicone is a bit surprising.

UOA for Redline w40 Mix in VW 2.0T

Hey, just thought I would share my latest UOA from my VW 2.0T FSI. Motor has 32k total miles and is bone stock. Previous oil changes with high quality vw502 approved oils at ridiculously short intervals... Last change, I tried a mix of 4qts Redline 5w40 and 1 qt Redline w40 Race for a 5k mile...

Motul Specific 5w40 on a VW 2.0T FSI

Unfortunately, i'm stuck with vw502 oils until my warranty runs out... redline has worked relatively well in this motor, and i will probably switch to that in the future... i never attributed the decrease in iron wear to the type of oil being used. i was just happy with the latest number...
