    PentaStar Lubrication Schematic - Presentation

Well, I know this engine was over engineered to eventually use direct injection and turbos, though none of that has materialized yet, I think. It is an interesting engine and having one in my 200c, I can't fault it for power or smoothness. I can fault whatever people calibrated the electronic...

    Dodge Durango

I agree with the complaint of no physical switch for the seat heaters, but I do appreciate that you have the option to turn them on upon immediately starting the car, even before the lawyer warning appears. I also appreciate physical controls for commonly used functions such as front and rear...

5w20 verses 5w30 in other countries without cafe.

I will say that my 5.7L "Hemi" in my 300 is pretty quiet using Amsoil 5W20. (well, except for the requisite hemi lifter tick)

Wrench or Ratchet For Oil Change?

I usually just use a ratchet, but I'll use whatever's handy. If you've worked on cars for a while, even just doing your own maintenance, you get a feel for how tight to tighten things like oil drain plugs, spark plugs, etc. I've never stripped a drain plug. I just got my most recent vehicle...

New (to me) 2006 300C Hemi - recommendations?

Wanted to add that I finally had a chance to change the oil and put in the Synpower 5W-20. Kind of a minor adventure: I was thwarted every time I wanted to change it in the past week--got stuck working late, then too dark and too tired. Wanted to do it Saturday. Discovered my ramps (made of...

What makes an engine "built to run at high RPM?"

What makes an engine "built to run at high RPM?"

A lot of the time I think it's the valve train that isn't rated to take the high RPM, not the lower end or the pistons. If the valve springs aren't strong enough, you can get valve float. Additionally, a valve train with standard rockers and not 'roller' components won't handle as much. Correct...

startup in cold weather...how long to warm up?

I'd always done the same as many--start the car, let it warm for 30 seconds or so, then take off and drive somewhat gently for a while. I just got a car that has an oil temp gauge though, and was surprised at how long it takes the oil to even reach human body temperature when the outside temp...

New (to me) 2006 300C Hemi - recommendations?

My other car has always done well with Mobil1, but it was hard to pass up the Valvoline on sale for $10/case less, and I'd heard good things about it. I do live in the snow belt, and am used to RWD cars in snow (more fun than FWD in my opinion), but will probably use my older car as a winter...

New (to me) 2006 300C Hemi - recommendations?

Just picked up a new ride a few days ago. A 2006 Chrysler 300C Hemi with 55K on it and almost every option except the AWD. Absolutely love it so far. No idea what's in the crankcase now. It looks pretty clean, but I'm planning on changing it over the next few days and using 5W20 Valvoline...
