For Father's Day my son got me a non contact thermometer from HF. I already have a Milwaukee and a Raytech. I asked him if he'd mind if I swapped it for something else. He didn't mind so I got these.

Recently picked this up. I build bicycle wheels as a side gig. Until now, measuring hubs and getting an accurate measurement of the spoke flanges from the center was kind of a crapshoot. I spotted this on a wheel building website. 75 bucks. Total bargain. You first measure the total width...

Snap-on tool prices are out of sight.

I can say this... I use breaker bars where necessary, I don't use pipes and other sorts of extensions. I'm also 6'5" and when I was young, had a 52" chest and was just a big boy. I didn't yank and jerk on my tools. Always practiced smoothness. I have probably only ever broken two sockets...

Snap-on tool prices are out of sight.

I've told this a couple of times in the past. I'm not a Snap On cheerleader by any means but I did buy plenty of their tools when I was wrenching on diesel generators. I worked in the field so I saw value in Snap On being "the best". One day I was going into Brooklyn to service...

Snap-on tool prices are out of sight.

I have a ton of Snap On tools but I was buying them mostly in the 80's and 90's. Sometimes I rarely will still grab something IF I see the guy and IF he's willing to make a cash deal. Now I usually buy Icon or Tekton. Recently, I couldn't find my probably thirty year old Snap On spark plug...

Yeah, I don’t see a need for that. I’ll probably get the on head compressor for big Mopars though.

Everyone sitting down? For years I’ve wanted a really good quality valve spring compressor. David Frieberger was talking about LSM’s compressor with utmost praise. I just treated myself to one. All I can say is wow. Sealed bearings on both sides, silky smooth operation, rated for 1200...

Using Impact Sockets only for 3/8” and 1/2” dr

Few years ago during a construction project at my job, there was a guy installing fire sprinklers. It was all No Hub or whatever you call it. All the pipes are joined together with a coupler with two bolts. The guy was using a Dewalt impact gun with a totally beaten and stripped chrome 12...

Using Impact Sockets only for 3/8” and 1/2” dr

Forty years ago I worked in a marine engine machine shop. I was 19 years old so I was buying a lot of tools. Back then there were no cordless impacts, only air and we didn't use it so we only had chrome sockets. The impact stuff struck us as dirty automotive stuff for ham fists. Our engine...

I have an 18 volt Milwaukee that I switch between an edger and a string trimmer. I like it a lot. Just sayin'.

In a pinch you can press a hex nut onto the square end of a tap and turn it with a socket. Works great in tight places.

My house had a click together floating floor in the basement bathroom. I've never liked it and knew I would have to pull it up and tile the floor. Last weekend I decided it was time. Picked up this Ridgid water saw. Works great.
